have fun drawing, and just keep it up. you'll only produce crap and hate your life if you forget to have fun with it.

being at the top is possible, but unless you're called mozart, you've got to grab each new year as it comes, and work. time does make the difference. you've got to be patient.
this site is a perfect tool to show work and improve, but it it is a complementary tool. all the rest is as important.
but as cotron said, the only true factor is that you've got to be passionate.

yeah.. just keep on going. don't give up. I have these kind of downs very often. I'm kind of used to them.
but I definetly agree with sparth that time is the key. You can't rush it anyhow.
cheers

I started drawing a couple of months ago. I have a full time job and a contract job (which I am phasing out). I have 2 kids and one more on the way. My son plays hockey 3 times a week. My wife work all weekend and I am the sole caretaker of the family during that time.
I draw every day. There is always a piece of paper and a pencil by my side. I steal away 5 minutes, 20 minutes, an hour. Just draw. Just have fun.

Cotron- Thanks for your input. I will most defiantly concentrate on having fun.
Sparth- I am a huge fan, it is always inspirational to me to get replies from artist such as yourself. I will continues to take a class here and there, but I must find a way to understand that it will take me years to get to the level that I want to be at. In a sense I already know that so I will just continue to strive.
Ant4d- thanks it’s been a while since I had one of these, I guess I should expect more in time.
Van- Wow, talk about being booked. I am not as crunched on time like you but some time it feels like that. I guess I have no real excuse. I will make an extra effort to draw more often and stop complaining.
Thanks to all

And that is the ticket! Shut up and draw! :D After all, if I can pick up a pencil at age 27 and draw for 2 months and get where I am already...then ANYONE can progress. You just have to draw.
Here are some more ideas:
When can I draw?! I dont have time!
1. Late night trips to the bathroom or the fridge are great times to steal away 10 or 15 minutes. You wont die losing 15 minutes of sleep.
2. Sitting at the drive through. Fast food my ass! Oh well...get in about 10 minutes of drawing.
3. Doctors office. Oh my...do I even have to say anything more about this one?
4. Watching TV? Fine! But, why not draw whats on TV, too. Pick up your pencil and doodle.
5. On the phone? Pick up your pencil!
6. Lunch breaks? Pack a sandwich. Eat and draw. Draw your sandwich! :) Going out to eat? Fine...draw while you wait for your food. Draw while you are eating...in between bites of course. Have you ever drawn an Arby's roast beef sandwich? Why not?!
7. Having trouble sleeping? Well, draw yourself to sleep. Drawing is very relaxing and will help you get a good nights rest if you just doodle a bit before crashing.
8. Compile time! Not everyone can do this one. But, I am a programmer and sometimes it takes 5 minutes for my programs to compile so I can test it out. Well, I draw while I am waiting. Perfect!
Can you think of anymore?
Why not?!
Draw.

i used to love drawing as a kid (as most kids do!) and i kept it up till i was about 13/14. then i just got lazy and started to watch tv and play computer games all the time. i still did art for gcse, but i didnt have the drive and passion to do anything at home (which is why i only got a 'b', but a 'b' is still good! :D)
then, about a week ago (i'm 17 now, so thats 3 years no drawing!), something happend, i dont know what, but i just had a NEED to draw. the passion to draw was back! i wasnt happy unless i was drawing. its been like this all week now, and i hope this feeling stays for ever!
i think it was as soon as i saw all the amazing work on this forum, including some of fengs work ( www.artbyfeng.com ) i was just amazed by it all, and decided to try and become a concept artist.
my point is, that this forum is a great place to get insperation and to get that all important "passion" back in your blood stream! i havent played comperter games for a whole week (and i just bought soul calliber 2 as well!!!!) i just draw, draw, draw! all the time. at least 3 hours a day (not including my free lessons in school).
drawing is now very fun! i enjoy it!
i hope you also find your passion back and this forum should help.
good luck.

Hey van thanks again man. As you can see I have been keeping up with this forum so I am getting back on track.
cartoonfox - I have that same thing with drawing more at school than at home when i have more time at home. And I have a real cool drawing table at home that I must start taking advantage of. Oh yeah and you are not going to believe this but one of the 2 classes that I am taking right now is with Feng :) now how cool is that. Although it is thought by him and Hong Ly I believe is his name on Saturdays, they teach every other day and this next Sat. is the second day and the first day that Feng will be teaching, I am going to miss that day. Can't get around it this time but is the only day I plan missing.
adrian832 - is that a trick question :)
thanks again
