there's a major problem with this one.
I'm not sure if you're asking us to point out the mistake because you're sure that something's wrong but don't know where the problem lies or you're simply stating that you are aware of the problem...
In either case your rendering is absolutely superb despite any issues the guy might posess. I love the anatomy and the tonal quality of the piece. Your ability to capture texture is readily apparent and the degredation of detail from front to back really helps create a sense of depth in the piece.
Yet, (at the risk of stepping on some toes here.) this critique wouldn't be complete without pointing out the spacial connundrum you've achieved with his bandolier. Basically, it needs to curve the other way.
A small issue for a very nice bit of concept design.

i really really like the picture, especially the rendering is great.

the chin looks strange to me though, a little off.

WoW! Thats some kickass work man!
Love how ye rendered the textures of the diff materials.
I agree w J. Manley here.. i think it looks unfinished without details on the other side...

thank you very much for the kind words guys.
hey jason, isn't silouhetting(sp?) the other side of a design something used often in concept work...in order to save time and stuff?

i kinda agree with manley but i would say just have it fade into the silhouette a bit but still keeping the silhouette...
AND DON'T LISTEN TO MANLEY HE'S BEEN INTO THE MOON SHINE!!!

Save time, yes. But you've already spent so much time rendering it disrupts the flow of the drawing. It goes from extremly rendered finished, to silhouette. The "distance" between those two aspects are too great.
THe problem with this drawing is the silhouetted shoulder. THe anatomy is incorrect. We are looking at a more front view than you have presented, and if we are using the rendered arm for reference; the distance between the deltoid... errr shoulder muscle is to short. Also the silhouetted leg is twisting out of the hip.

This is a great drawing which makes me want to piddle with envy. The only two things to bring it from 'really phukin rad' to 'perfect' is that the band which holds up his back pack, should appear to loop farther back. Right now the severity of the bend where it wraps his waist and shoulder make it look like the creature is two inches thick back from the view plane. One other detail would be to make some sort of dark wrinkle inside his left elbow... the forshortening needs just that little bit more detail. Or you could blur the lines in that area.

This is a great piece of work The values and rendering are very nice, very subtle. Did you touch up the volumes and forms in Photoshop?
I would like to see that left arm and left leg have some suggestion of anatomy though, and a smoother transition from the rendered chest to the unrendered shoulder on the left side would be nice. The rest of it is so nice and detailed, I want to see the whole thing finished. As for the bandolier, I think it pretty much works how it is now.
But overall I like it a lot. It's a striking image. Is this the alien pimp?
