*Updates on last page*

Like sketches do ya? You might find one or two scattered around here. I have an old sketchbook here somewhere but that's best left in the murky depths of thread limbo.

Thanks and enjoy.

Few more doodles for ya'll. Any crits and comment are more than welcome, thanks all!

1. Dragon in the top left of the first pic was a tribute pic for Gary Gygax.
2. The lady below that was the beginning of an "Evil Genie" for Chow, never finished though.
3. Speaking of Chow, on the next page there's a dude with his arms crossed. That was gonna be for "Hot Male Vampire Pin-up" Chow, yet another unfinished story:P

Thanks fer visiting.

Thanks Hyptosis! Here are some new sketches...

1. Tried to come up with a new take on the Emerald City, some quasi-futuristic idea. Then I went and called it Oz in stead of Emerald City:)
2. The floating girl at the top was supposed to be Dorothy but she turned out to look older than I intended, maybe when she goes to Oz she ages somewhat...
3. The floating skull collector creature is a take on "Death" in some fantasy setting where it adorns itself with skulls of those who it "releases."

Thanks guys, appreciate the comments!

You asked for colour and your gonna get some. It's a wip of one of the first sketches I posted.

Please feel free to comment, got a ways to go on it yet but I need the practice:) I may end up chopping the weird hair down, not sure if it is working for me any more.

A sketch of a character I've dubbed Fyn Mirsk. Dropped some tones onto it to get and idea of what direction I want to go with colours.

"Haughty, arrogant, over-confident and contentious. These are a few of the traits the young Fyn Mirsk has come into during the few years he's been traipsing about this world. If presented with the idea of humbleness Fyn's throat would like close up as if suffering from some allergic reaction. Although he would say he meant to do it.

Some new sketchies, no colour this time:P Please feel free to critique, bad anatomy, bad concept, bad breath? I can take it!

The little test tube is from a Dragon magazine me thinks and I couldn't resist drawing it.

"It didn't take Isabel long to find out who had killed the boy for as soon as she pulled the knife from his back, the wretched coward emerged from the shadows."

Nice start to your sketchbook, very clean. I especially enjoy your post from April 23rd with the Gary Gygax tribute and Evil Genie sketch. Great gesture on the genie figure.

Zeppelin - Thanks Zeppelin, you're gonna get your wish:)

DECYPL - Agreed, he definately needs more of a "looking down his snout at ya" look to him. Thanks for the feedback DECYPL, I really appreciate it.

johanson - Yeah I definately need to drop head on her and paint her up. Well, at least the head, she deserves that much:) Thanks johanson!

Every week or so me and some buddies throw up some skecthes based on some theme that is picked. We call it Sketchjam (http://www.digitalwanderer.net/sketchjam/). This week theme was "Fairy Tale" and this is what I came up with.

It is believed, that long ago, a faerie fell in love with a beautiful satyr instead of the vast forest and gardens she was meant to love. The faerie’s love, being too much for just one, began to twist her body into a form recognizable both as a faerie and the satyr. And thus, this is how the faeri-like creatures, Abfae, came to be. Abfae, being shunned from the forests and gardens they so loved, ended up in the marshes and damp underground dwellings where they now share their love with the life that teams in these dark and wet places.

Wow ... off to a good start man , congrats , do you have any finished works you can show us?
Oh one thing though ... some of your sketches excelate in dark edges , that induces the viewer in confusion ... not knowing with is the dark sides

flamable - Oh wow. Never noticed it but yeah, I totally see what your saying. I really need to check that and keep my darkened lines where they belong. Thanks flamable! Yep I have finished stuffs for sure. Check out by blog (in my sig) under paintings.

MarkWinters - Thanks man, I plan on it:)

Here's a final piece that I posted the wips for here along time ago. I have finally broke down and finished the other night. She's been lurking around for too long haunting me about how I don't finish stuff:) Here's a larger version. Lucy (http://www.dorkwerks.com/images/paintings/lucy_lg.jpg)

Lucy Chen. Enigmatic, beautiful and with just a tad bit of snobbery. Lucy has become quite well known over the last few years having been one of the starring members of the sitcom “My best Friend.” Somehow, Lucy has gotten mixed up in an undercover police investigation of a nefarious group of paparazzi, the Perrazzos. Undercover, she is now trying to infiltrate the group by befriending them and posing with a big smile instead of punching them as she used to do. Lucy doesn’t yet realize how dark the Perrazzos motives really are and what lengths they will go to further their goals.

Some quick doodles of some lads. One is a dour looking monk. The tattoos are not for focusing his powers or anything…they just look bad-ass:)

The other guy is some sci-fi/fantasy mix with some crazy segmented amour. 10 points if ya know what the two symbols on his armor is from;)

So I broke out the ole copic markers once again and I'm having a blast with them! I'm also dropping ink down first which is something I never, never, never do.

I am all about the pencil and being able to erase my lines over and over again till I get them right, which is probably why it takes me so long to get drawings done. Drawing with ink really forces me to pay attention and become much more confident with my strokes. I'm not there yet as you can tell by my scratchiness but it's all about practice and learning. I think I should try doing at least one of these a night along side of my pencils and painting.

These are from photo refs as well. The skater's left arm is much too short, doh!

Enjoy.

Here’s some more ink and marker sketches I whipped up. I’m really digging doing these sketches, it’s been great practice.

These marker renderings are turning out really nice! Try experimenting with allowing the markers' tones to render the image instead of just the darker contour lines - like the way you handled the basketball player.

I know what you mean by constantly erasing and redrawing lines. Putting the marks down right the first time is definitely something to strive for - something I'm working on myself. Best of luck!

Thanks Mark! Yeah, I kinda realized I should be trying that as I got through most of them. It'll definately help me understand light values better.

Here's a sketch I did for a shirt design for the company I work for. It's a vintage orange label with our "orange sprockets." Not sure if it'll get used but it's good practice to doodle stuff you don't normally draw me thinks.

Haven’t posted anything in a while but here are some desk doodles over the last 3 months. I sometimes find cool photos on Deviant Art or Veer and I like to sketch them out for practice. The center one in the first pic and the second and forth one in the third pic are from photos.

Actually managed to get a sketch done up that included legs as well! Here is Mystique, old school Mystique that is. The new one wears pants and a normal shirt. Lame! I like my comic folks wearing completely impractical clothing.

A drawing of a friend's D&D character. A Tiefling Warlock by the name of Drake. tried to push myself to complete the whole char and not just the upper half like I usually do. Still got a bit lazy on the lower half but that's the way it goes;)

Fantastic style. Cartoony, but in a good way. Realistic, but not too realistic. I love it!
