1 third of the source code was stolen by a hacker and spread all over the net, forcing Valve to rewrite the code that leaked.
April 2004 is the new release-date. :(

I'm still irritated by Sierra's whole "Half Life's cross platform network code doesn't work (Even though the programmers say they've never heard such news)" debacle from a few years ago, and had hopes that Valve would remedy those issues. Now with the code being stolen, the extra costs are going to come right back to us, the consumers. Friggin' thieves don't realize who they're really hurting. :bash:

There's a pre-release demo doing the rounds now as well.
Valve could cut their losses a bit by releasing a small demo soon, something like "Uplink" (which I played to bits before buying half-life).
It would stop alot of people downloading fake and possibly harmful binaries off the internet.

While I'd much rather have had HL2 on Sept 30... on the bright side, if you're making an HL2 mod and you suck at art, this gives you even more time to work on your skills. Not that I'm basing this theory off myself, or anything :)

If the guy who stole it is found...I'm not even all that big of a Half Life fan, but I'm thinking about trying HL2 out :D
