Yep... it's 'lil ol me, back again with another 'lil ol chalk art mural of goodness to share with you all. For those who couldn't make it out to the NYC Comic Con at the Javits Center this past weekend it was a great show, and I was asked to create a mural of an Alex Ross artwork.

Yeah, a daunting task, but I dove in head first and made what might be my best piece yet. Two photos included below as well as a link to a photobucket album of the process and a few fun photos. Let me know what you all think of this one.

Thanks to Mr. Ross for the excellent artwork and inspiration, and thanks to the guys at Reed Expositions for making this a possibility... it was great a great time.

Later,

Eric

This finished mural, shot from about 25 feet in the air by some of the convention workers after the show.

That's awesome! I don't know if I'm crazy about this new look Marvel's going with for Cap but damn you did a great job. When working that large how do you keep the proportions correct? It's gotta be hard not being able to see the whole image while working on it.

Hey guys, thanks for the positive feedback, I love to hear it.

Weazle, I use the tried and true grid system. I draw a small 1"x1" grid on the original (which is usually on an 11x17 piece of paper) then I draw a Foot x Foot grid on the large paper for a 1200% enlargement. I then redraw the entire piece using the grid to help maintain proportions. I do not trace the image or use a projector, I feel that a large part of the "art" of this is in the fact that I recreate it by hand.

Keep those comments coming folks!
