O.K. so I was loading up a user made paint set which wouldn't load. No big. But Painter acted a little wonky so I shut it down and restarted. I went to load Painter and I got a warning message that said
"Can't open the File PAINTER.SET" a painter program file.
Does somebody know how to fix this that dosn't include uninstalling and re-installing Painter?

I am not familiar with Painter, so what I post may be worthless, but here it is anyway. When you loaded the user made paint set, was it named PAINT.SET, or did it go into a folder named PAINT.SET? I think the program may be trying to load the paint set still. Your problem is similar to something that happened to me when I was trying to load a patch for a game. I shut the game down too when it started acting funny and when I tried to restart I got a similar message and it was about the patch file. All I had to do was delete the patch file and the game worked fine after that, so maybe all you have to do is delete the file that your Painter 7 is getting hung up on and it should be fine. Just make sure you are getting rid of the paint set that you tried to load and not a file vital to your program. Hope this helps you!:)

It is Painter 8. Anyway, I just had to bite the bullet and re-install. I bothers me a little that I have no idea what realy caused it in the first place since the custom brushes weren't even associated with the currupted file... I'll just chalk it up to another "entertaining" Painter flaw and hope it doesn't happen again.
