Btw, I would like to get some feedback/crits. Otherthan getting voted lower and lower on the threadrank, I do not really know what I am doing. BAsically it shows me that in general I'm doing worse the more I work, so obviously there's a problem with how I work, thus I'd love some feedback on it. My only crit would be to take one piece further and render in some details. Even it's just in a face or a focal point, your doing loads of digis but taken them only so far. Try spend more time on them and put some solid colour, brushstokes and detail.

i dont think you should be voted down and its not that you are doing bad pieces.you have a unique style going on and because of that difference with the standars i think there is that audience opinion.other than that i think you should work on anatomy more.Also these kind of brushes while giving a great feeling, dont allow you to play a lot with the edges.they are rough thats why
what you have to do is trying to figure out where you want to go with your skills(can you show us a desired piece you would like to reach?) this will help for a better feedback and also a will be a great guide for you

I have had a fear of somekind with continuing images. I dont know why, just developed it by time.. trying to get over it with this one. So I am most definately going to put more work in, I do not think this one is finished yet, I'll clean it up some, and make certain parts more clear, while keeping the rough look. I will try this, kidult.

kostas, I'll try to digg up some pieces that inspire me for next time. All in all I like images that make the eyes of the viewer work, being quite abstract, yet descriptive. I love impressionist works, that is for sure. I loaned an anatomy book from the library for the anatomy, I did some ribcage studying, I will try and do some more now.

pieces look good, great, actually! edges need variation though. the picture in this last post, one version has mostly crisp and hard edges, the 2nd one has mostly soft edges. to subordinate the sections of your picture, you need to integrate both types into your picture, and so you must choose: what's the focal point? is it the girl, or is it the dragon? that should determine whether your soft values should be in the foreground, or in the background. keep up that thinking in the rest of your drawings as well. edges, edges edges! :) i really like the colors, btw. g'luck with the rest of it...i hope to see more.

I used to sharpen an image and copypaste it on the unsharpened version and erase some out, the sharp one is just the soft one with sharpen on, so I may try this to help get both kind of edges in? Ofcourse it's more important to try and get them painted on in the first place, but atleast to see what is could/should be.

I tried photoshop a little bit on an old image, just took the already sharpened jpg so it looks bad but I think I learned something about photoshop, I will try and continue using it....

I like the environment quite a bit.
For the character design, I would say definitely try to paint the edges how you want them. If you're going to use sharpen, my thought would be to use it only as a finishing touch, and do it much more subtly.

i heard it somewhere that it's a lot easier to make an edge softer than to make it harder. so i might start out with a sharper picture, and then work the edges to make it softer. that's my opinion anyway. hope it helps! :)

You have a very unique and fresh style developing here. Especially that last piece has some tasty colors. That guy(?) standing on the top of the hill could use some refining though. I would also like to see more studies here. More painting from life to accompany those anatomy studies you said you're doing. Maybe you could also start doing daily quick poses from posemaniacs to reduce the slight stiffness in you're figures. :)

I like your base texture.. the first post on this page is very cool, (the dragon, etc..),loved how you used the saturated colors. I would advice you to try work more on the details, beyond the "dirty" brushstrokes, which are cool but maybe need some more work sometimes.:)

Yes, I will try my hardest to learn how to make detail, took some time off drawing etc. and realized that is is indeed very important for the viewer. After not looking at things that I've done in the past, and not having stuff lately, my old works seemed very bland, and am ashamed I let that happen. But like I said, I'll try my best!

Here's a two hour piece, making details felt more at home now that I let it boil for awhile, ofcourse this is just 2 hours. and I should be able to use 5-6 in the future if I want to be able to make something worth looking at, another thing to work on.. damn patience... or rather the lack of it. :|

great!!! specially the dragon illu on 576.It have great texturing, lovely composition(my eye enjoys traveling around the image), you make some nice focus by adding some blurry elements etc.

Thanks alot a la bapsi, this one was made with a mouse at school while we had some "this is photoshop, you can edit pictures like dis, and dees are filters" kindof lesson.

I didn't experiment since we were using a mouse, so I just stuck to the basics, which does look better, but it doesn't mean I learn more by doing this, though I was able to focus on the forms more since I had alot less to think about.

i love very much the work in 585#, and its bigger version works very well because you worked on it great
Spray can work is awesome :D
and the depth in the last one works really well, the bad thing is that the foreground is rough and the viewer expect to be able to read the forms easier there.
hahaah no worries i feel you.I only paint these things in class in the first semester and i was totally bored.Then i used to do concept sketches and stuff till they understand how i work and what things i like to do, firstly they were somehow insulting me but i kept pushing and they finally understood because i was doing my own studies at home(what u have seen here in my sb) and sometimes i painted small studies of some bottles there to learn more about color and tone from observation and stuff)
I just couldnt bear doing these stuff all the time
Just enjoy it and keep learning!!!

Hi Lakka! skimmed through your sketch book! its awesome you have a lot of variety in themes going from portraits to future scapes. your most recent with the super beast emerging from its fiery tomb is primo and captivates great feeling. i also saw you had mixed feelings on the red haired impoverished viking figure. i love it. although the subject is not vary powerful to me the blue-violet highlight and the complementarities in the painting is really cool.

Very nice mate!!!U keep pushing the pieces some more and great things are coming out.The more u work on giving a more detailed area to rest the eye,the work becomes better.
U improved the light and shadow relations and stuff, i can see.I still find the more problem in the human figure but maybe its not your priority now so no worries.

Your colours are great, psychadelic yet kind of lifelike too.
Hooray someone else who likes studying garlics lol.
Is it deliberate that you steer far away from including details or do you intend to begin to build up detail in your finished works? The impressionistic approach is beautiful but doesn't always show the subjects off to their full potential. Of course, it can do nicely when done well, and I think you do it well.

I have been trying to get in to detail a bit more, somehow it's quite hard for me. Lately I have been busy with school so I mostly make little scribbles in 30-60mins and move on, just to keep drawing going in some manner :D

But you are right about the detail thing, it's something I really need to work on.
