A little something I did quickly while thinking about how shitty the 'goth' scene has become.
Mostly consisting of high school girls in little or no clothing parading around acting like drug crazed whores ( which was NEVER goth mind you) dancing to bad techno, pausing only to put their breast that happened to fall out back in their tight black thing they call a shirt.
Things just seem to be echoing the times of ignorance, self indulgence, and unfocused sexuality.
Give me back the 80's any day.

Speed painted in about 5 whole minutes with ink and brush...

Heh goth was always dead man :p some good high contrast work here. Perhaps a bit confusing when you come to look at the character as far as definition of form is considered. I also might do something with that cat, could be a bit distracting as far as the way the rest of the work is handled. Looks good though and art with a message is always cool ;)

While I'm decidedly old-school, and really couldn't be considered goth at all for at least the past ten years (why bother getting dressed up when you don't leave the house anyway?), I'd still like to knowMostly consisting of high school girls in little or no clothing parading around acting like drug crazed whores ( which was NEVER goth mind you) dancing to bad techno, pausing only to put their breast that happened to fall out back in their tight black thing they call a shirt.

what exactly is wrong with that?;) (Well, minus the drug crazed/techno part, I guess.)

There's too many of those damn kids out there that fuck everything up for the rest of us, and wouldn't know anti establishment unless it was sold to them in a teen ' I wanna feel good so I buy stupid vapid products for stupid vapid people because I'm a good little capitalist, that's all anti establishment and shit' magazine.

I have a lot of anger towards the current youth in america ... don't get me started.

This is fucking hilarious! You've hit a nail so hard on the head man! I totally know where your coming from. In Scotland we call them metal neds. ned means non educated delinquant and can be used to describe all teenage no-brainers who follow a fashion unswervingly without really knowing what their doing. Metal ned describes the people your hacked off with.

In Edinburgh where I live the goth scene used to be quite subtle, understated and most importantly goth. There was one street in paticular that was really cool where you'd go if you were a goth. Now this streeet literally SWARMS with little teenage metal neds! AAARRRRRGGGHHH!! I actually heard one of them say in passing, and I quote:

"Yeah, I really like Rage against the down and System of a machine, they're great bands!"

LOL

I constantly get the urge to kill these people. Alternative clothing and music no longer means alternative, it means mainstream.

yeah, it's really scary when some of the 'weekend goths' get the guts to walk up to me and try to talk to me about the new Manson album or some other shit that I could give a good goddamn about then they ask me what my favorite bands are. I usually answer them with some thing like , The legendary pink dots, Current 93, Subhumans or Crass, and then they, almost as if on cue, say then never heard of them.

Which I promptly tell them where they can shove their 'merlin manson' and give them a swift kick to the arse down a flight of stairs or something equally as enjoyable.

Ahhh ... I'm so out of touch with my generation ...

Well, if the quality of art is measured by the emotional response in its viewers. . .
:)

By the way, I agree with WSM about the cat. Seems almost cartoon-like, doesn't really fit with the rest of the image.

there is only one thing i hate more than those faggy poser goths ... it's the fucking jocks who think i'm one of them ... yes like i am emotionally down trodden! those ASSES! i swear, they see someone wearing dark colored clothing or my trenchcoat that i find quite warm in the winter and quite protectant in the florida down pours of rain ... i am goth. i hate that term. i eventually just started drawing the demise of all people i saw ... so if they tried to talk to me ... i would flip a few pages and show them dieing a unique death i thought would suit them ... one jock i had donkeys kicking him in the crotch andcrapping on his head .... that was an interesting fight i almost got into! took 8 people to hold him back. with me goading him on to try it :) i hated highschool

Ok, time to stick my oar in...
First some background... Been active in the goth scene in the UK for nearly 20 years (woah - how old am I ?!!) and working as a games artist for the last 7 or so (still not posted anything - too humble!), anyway...

I've got to say, I do find it sad that us old traditional goths are beign tarnished with the same brush as these spook kids, as we call 'em. Fair enough - you've got to start somewhere, but they just don't seem to see what's behind 'the look' - they see it as a form of teenage rebellion and a big 'fuck you' to society. But for me, and it seems a lot of other genuine goths, are just out to do/wear/listen to/be into whatever we liked - if that happens to not be 'normal', then fair enough; if it happens to fall under the label of 'goth', then fair enough - but it was never a case of 'lets wear this to piss off our parents'. They also fail to see that there's so much more to it - ok, you don't need to know about gothic architecture, gothic art, gothic literature, poetry, philosophy, psychology etc. etc. - but it at least helps to know that there is this background behind it and not just the 'Instant Marilyn Manson - Annoy Your Parents Kit (tm) - available in shops now' attitude. (And NO 0 MM are not a goth band - just a mediochre rock band that likes to rip off old goth imagery to substitute shock-value for talent).

Ok, sorry for the rant guys - back to the art. I might even post something now - *lol* .

nothing more pathetic than a bunch of people bitching about what's become of their "scene." Music changes, fashion changes, generations of kids come and go. It's life...deal with it. If it wasn't "punk-rock" being played all over mtv, then it would be rap, or funk, or hip-hop, or pop and you'd be bitchin' about that too. If you don't like it...turn it off. And if someone wants to dress up like a goth or a punk kid cause they're caught in the fad, then blink and by the time you open your eyes they'll have moved on to something else. maybe i'm alone in this, but if i spent all my time policing the scene and keeping people out that i don't deem worthy then i would have very little time to enjoy the things that i do. so, to all the new punk kids and goth kids and hardcore kids...Welcome!!!...have fun...if you like the music, great. if you don't, great.

oh yeah, we're supposed to be talkin' about a piece of artwork. Nice piece. Good composition...a little preachy, but that's art.

Totally agree with Clock (nice work by the way). If u expect ppl to actually respect u for ur differences then u should do so too, even if u dont agree with their habbits, style or preferences. Just think about it, how can u crit someone for somehting u so clearly do urself?

no harm or insult intended so dont hang me from a tree and make a piņata out of me ok? =)

From everyones perspective it is different. And about the new punkrocker/goth kiddies. Theyre conforming to nonconforming. strange isnt it

or as much as you or others might hate to admit it...maybe the new goth or punk kids have genuinely found something they are interested in. i'm sure when i first started going to shows i was looked down on. but luckily...noone around here treated me like shit. that was ten years ago though...maybe times have changed.
