This guy has a camera mounted on his back, showing himself from a top-back perspective like a videogame character, and has goggles on so he can only see what the camera is seeing. It's apaprently part of an experiment that shows how people tend to act much differently if they see themself from the 3rd person.. so here is the Avatar Machine (http://tv.boingboing.net/2008/04/11/avatar-machine-marc.html)

I kept wondering how he dealt with depth sight... *lol* How the hell would he manage to grasp a hand properly in greeting....

Those gangmembers look like they jumped right out of a cartoon!

Interesting, but flawed. It sounds much more intellectual than it really is. For instance, I don't think he's isolated the behavioral effect of the costume from that of the third person view. Which is fine, since he's a designer and not a social scientist, but still, like most performance art, it's not as profound as it thinks.

The hilarity of him making this gigantic retarded looking suit, acting like a dick, and then having the gall to make up some vague pseudo intellectual bullshit (exponentially making him a larger douche) is rich.

Besides its not the perspective given to you in video games that makes you a douche; its the anonymity. Its already been talked about, and its nothing new.

I agree, but that's still a nifty device, but still for novelty purposes. :P

It would be cool if they added some game like simulations as well, make it a real virtual reality game!!!

This would have been far more interesting if the person doing it took it seriously. The costume, and him running around acting like an imbecile just makes it painful to watch. If someone lived this way, normally, for a week, that would be far more interesting.
