These are a few little concepts I've done for a little 3D animation I'm going to be doing about Samurai Musrooms.
These guys belong to the Shitaki Clan.

It works, but his "rootlegs" aren't doing anything for me. Make life easier and just give him some feet like Toadstool.

FEET! What a cop-out! Wouldn't it be far more entertaining to animate little "rootlegs" (as you so aptly put it) that are moving seemingly disconnected from the rest of the body's movements...scurrying along, jumping, kicking flipping..? Giving mushrooms human characteristics is one thing, but i like to keep them as mushroom-like as possible... besides, a mushroom with feet? It's been done...

Samurai swords` blades are supposed to be (i believe) as long as one`s arm. And staves as long as the body. But that`s of course your decision. There are of course other types of weapons, but I just thought i`d let you know.

sweet, this is awesome. I would have thought mushrooms would be hard to "characterize" but you have done an awesome job. Well rendered too.

If they were people I would say put feet on them, but they are MUSHROOMS!!!!
These are really nice, great faces! I also love the armor and blades. And as far as the size of the actual blades, again, these are Samuri mushrooms! I don't think authinticity was the point. Good work!:D

Thanks for the comments guys. As for authenticity, I did want to make the story for them very authentic. I wanted a classic story with a classic fight scene and have it all done like you would see in a kurosawa movie. I wanted it to seem like what eveyone would expect from a kung foo Samurai movie, only they're mushrooms. :) Just to make it strange. I know. I'm a weirdo. So as for the size of the blades I might want to go by the actual standards that they should be. When I build them in 3D I think I'll do that.

Here's a new Image. It's kind of got a bit of J. Sweet and Sparth and maybe even a bit of Bengal in it. (I wish I had my own style ): )
Once I start getting some of the models done I'll post them up here for you guys to see.

Ah yes. That's a good thing to know. I was going for that but I just didn't know how to spell the name of the mushroom properly. See what happenes when you're an uncultured canadian guy. ;)

One question though? Are these mushrooms of the magic variety? :p

It reminds me of the albulm cover I made for my band. It had little magic mushrooms with hands and eyes all peering into a massive snow shaker with what looks like a island landscape inside.

Here's Some early Geo for the Muashroom Samurai.
I think I need to work on the face a bit more and give the shoulders more definition. Maybe I should make the Thumbs longer as well. Those shoulderpads and the Swords are just proxies to see what it would look like.
Hopefully I'll have a new update and maybe some early Textures to show soon. Ooooo and maybe even some armour and some weapons too.
