Hello all! I am new to this forum so go easy on me if I post something wrong. I am a Digital Arts student currently taking a sketching class, so i would like to get some feed back on my stuff. This is one that I did outside of class, just for fun.

I like the feel. the structure is a little quirky though, and why does the shadow coming off the lip fall in a different direction relative to the other shadows...? just watch that....try to stick to one lighting model next time. It looks really cool, just not believable.

Yea this is from a reference pic that had about 3 sources, probably too complex for a noob such as my self. You say the structure is a little quirky, how so? I know that the jaw line is off a bit, this is supposed to be female but the jaw looks a little masculine to me. I have also seen that the shadow does not match the nose, but what else do you see?

I'd say the sturcture is a little quirky in that there isn't any structure just yet... you've blocked in the shadows, but there's no sense of dimension yet. It all still looks flat, which can be a problem when working from photos. Play with the modeling of the shapes a bit: how the cheeks turn and drop off, the muzzle around the mouth, the wings of the nose and so on... play with the reflected light as well, and you'll get it. Good start though, just keep at it. Peace
