I've been drawing some stuff but not very relevant to post here.
So I'll just post this non referenced nude I did today and a very very objective one that is referenced. It is realy in the begining but it has already take me 4 hour and it is milimetricaly objective. I'm allways comparing with the original putting the paper in front of the monitor.

VERY nice beginning here.
It's great to see how quickly you're learning. :D
I'd see a study for something like a face in a post, and every face after that, improved, showing that you learned a lot from that previous study.
Know that your time is not wasted!
Keep going, you're doing great. :D

OOOOOHOOHOHO MY FIRST COMMENT XD
thanks a lot. that is very very apreciated.
I'm not sure if I correctly understood what you said about the faces but I'll probabily be posting some daily self-portraits and some faces that I've been drawing on the bus when I feel confortable with the human body.
thank you very much again.

Hey! Thanks for your good reply in my sketchbook.
I'm really happy to see that you're making great progress here when I look at your first post and your last.
I especially like your skeletal studies which show really appealing linework.
I also think that your nude female study is really good as well.
But when you construct your figure I see that you're mostly working from the contour. It's probably about personal preference, but I try to think more about the form than the contour. I think it's easier to understand where everything is in space. Also it's a really good idea to make a loose gesture sketch before you start blocking out the contour. I see that you haven't really made that in the wip with the guy with the gun, or maybe it got lost in the scanning. If you make a loose (not fast and sloppy just lightly drawn) gesture before you start dealing with the contour and the forms I think you'll have an easier way of applying what you see to the paper.
Maybe I'm ranting but this kind of process helped me out a lot!
Keep up the great progress!

Hey thanks a lot man. I've been noticing that I mostly work from the contour but I've been trying to change that as I study the lightning of the body. That tip is very helpfull and I allready been using it but the wip of the guy with the gun is a very objective thing, so I'm just starting by doing the measures and the general inclinations, and then I'll go on to more particular stuff

hey a tua mae, thanks for stopping by my sketchbook. Your photo study is looking good so far. Only thing I'd be concerned about is getting too involved in the details before everything is blocked in. Work from big to small, details. That seems to help me anyways. Keep it up!

By the way Is anyone intrested in having a group sketchbook with me?? I've seen it around here and I think that easy-going competition can be really helpful to both members (2 or more)

That's an awesome self-portrait, very realistic. Man, all I have to say is that you just have to keep the momentum going. You're showing mountains of improvement over a relatively short period of time. Keep going!!
Also, when are you gonna finish painting that dude (in his underwear) with the gun?

supsup A tua mãe, thanks for stopping by SB...i'm digging your ref digital paints, the self portrait is awesome nice job
only crit i might have is line drawings could use a little bit more variations in line width and when u render forms out with a pencil don't be afraid to laid down value, not so hard you damage the paper, rather build it up and then work the reverse sculpt form by taking kneaded eraser and subtracting
keep up the great work, looking forward to more of your ref paint (hehe wish i had the patience to do ref'd studies)

Good work happening here. Your painting is going strong. Use the attachment manager when you post instead of linking with Photobucket (or whatever). That way your images will always show and won't be censored. Keep at it!

Draw, draw, draw till your hands bleed!!

whocares if it takes a month, it's better to have that one kickass piece rather than 100 lousy pieces, keep going with this one, i really would like to see this one finished, also when you do finish can u post the ref pic as well
plus zooming out is fine because an image should read really well zoomed out, and for the intended size whether print or high res or whatever your ouptut u can still go back and work out the little nooks and crannies, detailing and noodling is just tedious and laborious but getting the form correctly is more than half the battle and to me the forms on this is juicy!!

hey,
great studies
however try to paint the whole image in on time, so block all the colours in at the same time, before moving on to detailing, and do this over the whole image,
don't do the legs first to move on to another part of the image, try to do everything at the same time, and to think a step ahead.
(does that make any sence)
keep on rocking

Thank you very much snootchy. That's very motivating
Brun, what you said totaly makes sence but the reason I'm painting part by part is because, if I saw the whole body painted, and even if it wasnt as realistic as I wanted it to be, I would stop there because I would be to lasy to work on the details of the whole thing. By the way I'm doing it, that doesnt scare me because I have less stuf to focus on.
Does that make any sence?? My english is not so good but I hope I have expressed myself correctly.
Anyway. I havent been at home so I couldnt be working on the study. I'll focus on it tomorow. But here's a little thing I did today. The anatomy, poportions and so, are all fucked up, but I still like it though.
edit: Could anyone tell me how to do attachments of images??

You could upload your work through ConceptArt, that's what happened to me with Photobucket; all my nude work got deleted.
Your digital artwork is lovely, and this sketchbook definitely progresses as more gets posted. For the pencil work, I think you should define it a little more, or perhaps move on to doing a complete pencil piece instead of sketches.

I've been a lasy by not strugling as hard as I can.
didnt catch the right colors, so this part doesnt look as realistic as the other ones.

this figure painting is turning out stunning! may i ask why you render the parts seperately? i would have expected that one blocks in lights and shadows for the whole figure and starts detail rendering afterwards.
and please tell me that you work after a photo ref! or do you do that from imagination?!

Vou seguir o teu conselho. Muito agradecido.
Now, I've been doing figures from POSEMANIACS since yesterday and I tried something non referenced to see the results. You guys are probably not going to notice them, but I did when I draw this animal, that figure and other figures that are not here posted (didn't worth it). The figure is pretty fucked up but the creature is cool.

sup A Tua Mae; man it's been a long time since i stopped by here, but i'm glad to see you posting again
you have a great eye for capturing proportions, value, and colors; as long as u keep sticking to ur ref studies the imaginative one will definitely catch up; i think when approaching ref sketching, it's important to make a mental note or remember why you are placing a darker value here, or what is the form doing or where does the body exist in the x and y coordinate, etc
it's good to be mindful of these little things so that when u need it, it will be there; sometimes it's real easy to get lost in just rendering something out to make it look photographical but it's nice to look at a piece that has some personal style meshed with the realism
personally i find sketching freely, even though u know a line is suppose to go here but u just let the whole arm move or lines flow freely produces some great initial sparks for ideas or shapes u recognize
you're studies are insane, wish i could render stuff out the way you do =O
keep up the great work!!

damn A tua mae your nuts bro, i just luv how you can capture likeness soo well, I know exactly which stock photo this is from too! Keep going with the studies, but I think it'll really help to just do simple sketches as well, to convey form with lines as well. Pretty much changing it up with all different types of studies keeps the mind pondering and working on weakness areas as well as a review for strengths.
It'd be interesting to see you do a master copy, since it's not a photo and impossible (but can be done) to copy every brush stroke but more to capture the mood and lighting of master's work.
Great stuff keep em coming dood!
