Hello all :)

I hail from a little island called Malta (Europe) and I've been doodling since the age of 13, and discovered digital at 14. (I am currently 18). My first sketchbook dates back to January 2005

I have always found it difficult to catch up or find time to draw and pratice. The problem with living on an island is the lack of opportunities. There is no such thing as art colleges here exept for a design school (which is based on design rather than art) and evening government classes. I always tried to teach myself but I very rarely use reference (and that is why I find it hard to draw humans and other things). I'm fed up with studing sciences, but I do find sciences an inspiration to create and doodle up news things.
This year I started to attend the evening government classes but we only do still life and the SAME FEMALE model (really need a male model :s)

Other than that, I now try to practice more life drawing when possible. I doodle a lot on bus rides or during particularly boring lectures.
This year has been so far rather productive, probably as a protest for my giving up studying (I am thinking of changing my current university course to go study Restoration in the same and only university)

I very much appreciate critique of any form. I am open to harsh and constructive critism. I want to move foward as an artist. I have a very long way to go, but I have the will to do so :)

I typically use green fountain pen ink for doodling. This week I discovered COPIC MARKERS, theyre such fluid sketching devices :D but theyre so expensive
I use opencanvas and SAI for digital colouring. Photoshop for cleaning scans. And occationally sketcher (artgrounds) for it's fluid watercolour&blur tools

I hope I did the attachmenting correctly
Heres some selective sketches(both sketchbook and quick colour ups) from this week:

This is a sketch of a new character of mine. Still unnamed. SKetched up with fountain pen (yes I write in green :) I love green)

340228
A worm I doodled up on a bus ride. About 15/20 min. I had to piece it toghter on photoshop as I dont own an A3 scanner yet

340229
Something from the sketchbook

340230
Experiments with my first copic marker. I really liked the markers so I'll probably go hungry to afford more of them :)

340236
A scanned doodle I coloured up on SAI. I didnt intend to polish it up much, so it doesnt fall under finished work

340238
A doodle I did on a barf bag when i was on holiday last week. I quick coloured it later on with SAI

Thanks for viewing! I hope to update my sketchbook at least once a week if I dont manage to upload daily. Please excuse any spelling/poor english, its not my main language

Oh hello there :) pleased to meet you guys!

Here are some model sketching from the past 2 months. They were done in 20 minute sessions. I posted them in a sort of collage mode to save some space. Most are mechanical pencil and grey biro
340795

Some more model doodling, but sometimes I add wings when I get bored of the same pose. We only have ONE FEMALE model always :s I wish we could get some variety every now and then :(
CHarcoal stick sketch much reduced in size, followed by some biro sketchings
340796

A 30 minute pose I took a little bit too far with wings. Micron biro 005 & 02 & 08
340797

And finally a sheep/ram/thing doodle from this morning

Dude, whenever wings are concerned there is no such thing as "going too far", Im diggin them, also really diggin the digi-shading, color choice and composition of that barf-bag jammie. What is that hairy drawing in your icon? looks cool. cant wait to see more...

love your wings.

Crit on your eyes - they're looking very flat - remember, the skin of the eyelid WRAPS around the sphere of the eye - thing about drawing round shapes, THEN add your pointy makeup or somesuch.

Thanks all for your kind comments

Lake: Yes its true I do find eyes difficult so I tend to overstyle them. Thanks very much for your crit, I find it very useful, and kind of you to comment :D

Since quite a few people asked about my display pic, its from a doodle I did on artground's sketcher about 2 months ago (I love that program for it's watercolour tool!)
343496

Some bus ride doodling from yesterday/today (I dont have a licence so I have to rely on public transport)

343491
343492

Doodling while watching TV
343493

And heres a work in progress I'm working on at the moment during life drawing class (same model as usual :/) I hope to finish this tommorow, its about 50% done (face is cut off till I finish it because at the moment scares little children). Opencanvas, canvas size is about 3000by2000ish

Oh hello everyone. I had a very unproductive (compared to usual) and extremely busy week. Here are some nitpickings from the sketchbook (most are done during bus rides)

347391

A small update before I go on a comment spree :)

Yet again another very busy week. I didnt have much time to doodle exept on bus rides and some minor ink doodles.

Some bus ride doodling (scan of two A4pages posted toghter. I really need to invest in an A3 size scanner)
351526

Some quick doodling of some characters of mine, with some added acrylic
351527

Fountain pen wolf/fox thing. Might colour this according to time available.
351528

Some Ink&brush work
351529

And finally since a lot of people around here are familiar and love Sketcher, I'll be posting some of my sketcher works along with regular doodles. This piece was done exactly a year ago
351530

Thats it for today folks :)

Yet again I have so much to study (exams in may :/ ) that I didnt have much time to practice. However I did some experimenting with inks and their layering. I did a few anatomical studies but I didnt have time to scan them yet

359574
359575

I used my writing fountain pen (I write in green he he) and water to move ink about, then some white ink mixed with yellow, then white ink on its own using a paintbrush.

And finally managed to speedpaint a gift for a friend of mine who is obsessed with avatar
359576
30 min on opencanvas (and then reduced to a smaller size on photoshop). I still have issues with humans but I am trying to stuff in more studies and stuff.

oh man I cant wait for exams to be OVER. I want to start doing some enviros now
