3d-model of a Parasaurolophus i'm currently working on. First the original concept(that was changed quite a bit, the thickness of the neck, placement of the front feet etc.) and the wip model of the body and the head.

dude sweet friggen models :D
2 things to look out for though. First on the speed paint you may want to use a broader brush on most of it, that kinda cross hatchy deal with colors works if you use just a little of it but i feel like you could be knocking out planes a lot easier with just broad strokes. The second thing to watch out for is anatomy - your models look pretty solid on it, but on the nazi spaceman especially his crotch is saggin super duper low - it should prolly be close to a heads length higher. Other than that though that space nazi is awesome.
keep it up man :] hope this was useful

Marlisa Thanks! Glad you liked :) I had a blast doing that painting although it's kinda emo now as I look back at it
Uli Thanks :) I scanned the inked B&W picture and cleaned it up a bit in photoshop. Then i set the inks on multiply on a paper texture (from cgtextures.com) the colors were added under the line drawing with a basic hard brush.
NothingbutZack Thanks! I try to update this sb when ever i have something to post ;) The 3d stuff is really fun to do, I really like the ZB3 program, so intuitive. Sculpting is really addictive.

Hej på dig. That womans, who's holding a can, mouth seems to be a bit distorted and there is something funny about her eyes. Is that your grandmother?
You have come a long way since I last saw your drawings and paintings. Only real crit about your paintings especially that witch woman painting is try to get rid of that muddy background. The witch is so beautifully painted that it should pop out more from the background. Maybe you could use a bit more interesting and saturated color? Also, the scarf looks great but what is that pot she has on her head? other than that very good job.
ps. I really like this (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v371/inkfish/rude.jpg) drawing.

yeah, i have great reference pictures stashed away from our family album, you should see the reference photos i took when we were in Italy, i tell you if i ever decide to do some lovecraftian madness, i'm all set :)
Thanks for the crit man, spot on i have stared at that motherfucker for so long i'm really going blind, damn hag. The pot on her head is supposed to be a traditional russian festive hat, yeah... maybe i should do something about that heh :P
I hope i have time to finish this weeks chow, here's the recent version I'm a bit worried that this would look more in place airbrushed into some tuning van than in a grimm fairy tale that i was going for...

Damn man. Your grandmotherfucker is starting to look really good. The face for example is starting to look ridiculously good. Especially the mouth region is rendered beautifully. But... And there's always a but... The pot is still there.
It almost seems like a 2d object on a 3d drawing. I think that a part of the problem is that the hat is standing right next to the most detailed part of this painting so in comparison it seems quite blurry and undetailed. Go back to the ref if you have some.

That character piece came out great :) I dig it...however, I must say that too much rim light 'outlining' around her head flattens her on the image. the lower parts of her body look more natural and yes it makes the head stand out - however its not necessary to be that bold.
I kind of prefered the hat to be less vibrant, like in the earlier image as well...having the complimenting colors further apart and leaving her face to be the focal point was nice...now the red hat is jumping way out.
Love the setting you threw in though, see you around

Hey I really like that last picture. I like how your trying to keep his eye as the focal point, but it seems like too quick a transition into blurriness. I think it may look better if it was rendered out a little bit more. Just a thought.
Inkfish
February 21st, 2009, 02:09 PM
Hey Pyroclasm00 Glad you liked that :) I had a blast doing it, the blurriness might be somewhat related to the fact that it was done in the wee hours of the night, i had to crash before finishing that sketch :P
CHOW and some pages(an assignment for a class done as a critique with the style of the critiqued artist, Mignola and some spawn artist whose name i forgot) excuse the lame finish texts.

What?!? No pots. It's a shame, a shame... You prolly haven't yet rendered the dress she's wearing, but I think it needs some beads and patterns and shit... Well maybe not shit after all. If you get the same level of detail, as you have on her face, on the rest of her, you'll have an excellent painting. The highlighting of her head and tentacles is spectacular. Now go and add them to rest of her body.
btw.. the golden rings look a bit wobly and skewed. maybe do something about them?
