Hi,
I'm going to create a portfolio to try to get in to the San Francisco School of Art. Fortunately I have until December to finish it but I want to create entirely new work that will be the absolute best that I can do.
They require 3 portraits from life, 3 still lifes, and 3 landscapes from life. I'm planning on keeping these fun and interesting.
Possibilities:
Still lifes - skulls (I'm doing at least one!), candles, scrolls, other cool stuff (suggestions/ideas?)
Landscapes - cemeteries (I love them.), the forest (easy painting from my deck ;) ), Once again do you guys have any more ideas?
Portraits - Self Portraits, Family Portraits, possibly paying my friends to be dressed in corpse paint... ;) I suppose life drawing to but the 3 hour sessions no longer exist. :( , Homeless? That's what Andrew Jones did. Any ideas?
I have a few questions. What mediums would be the best to use for these? Do these schools disrespect digital art? They said any medium and then listed a bunch but digital was not one of them. When it comes to "traditional" (non digital) mediums I am most comfortable with graphite and airbrush.
Has anyone here ever made a portfolio for something like this? Do you have any tips?
Should I include any concept/from imagination work in my portfolio?
Thanks,
Jake
