Tantus Games is looking for 2 Concept Art Interns.
About Tantus Games: We are a small (only 8 of us so far) video game start-up in Salt Lake City, UT. Our first title is a “castles and knights” era game. We just brought on a modeler and 2 programmers, and we need finished concept work to give them so they can start their work.
What we are looking for:
• Someone who can create near-real to photo-real, digital pieces. Examples: we may ask you to render a sword, a foot soldier, the interior of a blacksmith’s shop (then the entire thing burning down).
• Someone who has enough artistic/ computer background to be given a small project, and see it through ‘til the end (help, guidance, moral support will be offered along the way).
• Someone to work Part-time (5-10 hours per week) with the potential of full time (30+ hours) after a trial period. We understand that this someone might be a student or work somewhere else as well.
• Someone who can work on a “per project” basis (one at a time) until after the trial internship, at which point you may be given a “pipeline” of project to work on at your discretion.
• Someone who can maintain a record of their process. We like seeing how the artist got to where they ended. Examples: pencil/ pen/ marker sketches, digital quick sketches in Photoshop/ Corel. We plan on an “Art of Tantus” book when the game is released. So, on your best work, we may ask for a few lines to explain you thought process.
• Someone who has their own gear. Interns will not be provided with hardware, or software in the beginning.
• Someone who can effectively communicate in English (there may be options for Portuguese speakers in the near future).
• Someone willing to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) up-front, before any work is done, and maintain strict confidentiality if you leave the company before the game is released.
What you get out of this:
• Money. We only have one investor so far (a few more on the hook, but no $$ from them yet), so you will be asked to do some of your work (not all) for free. Plus, possible stock options (but our CFO is still working on the details of this potential arrangement).
• The game will be launched on multiple platforms (X-Box 360, PS3/ PS4?, PC, others??), so your work will be viewed by many, and you will have made a name for yourself.
• You can work from anywhere. We are in Utah, but you can be on the moon as long as you have an Internet connection.
• Like I stated above, an art book will be produced, and every artist included will receive part of the profit from it ($$ to be worked out before publishing).
• A great resume builder. Companies like to see that you can work for somebody, take direction, and finish the work you are given. Tantus Games will provide you with an awesome letter of recommendation if/ when you leave.
• Full profile and gallery on the company website (the site will be up in a few weeks, we are working on the beta version right now).
Send resumes and links to review your current/ past work to:
