I started a little Blog at coffeeshopsketchgroup.blogspot.com (http://coffeeshopsketchgroup.blogspot.com)

It's a place where people can post their coffeeshop sketches if they like, all based on the Blogger platform. Check it out and join if you're interested.

cheers

Does starbucks count or is that too mainstream?

Because, where I live everything is owned by chains... :(

I hope I can find a comfortable place somewhere around here. Perhaps the international airport.

@blacksmith: i typed it wrong the first time, should work now

@chaosrocks: thanx ;-) feel free to join us!!

@spacechimp: Of course, i love mainstream and chains and i'm a starbucks-junkie!!! i go there every wednesday to sketch and drink my white coffee moccha. originally i wanted to call it "starbucks sketchgroup" but i thought it's a better idea not to use a brand name, even if it's not for profit.

I was inspired by Stephen Silver who told about coffeeshopsketching in his podcasts. and it is a cool idea because they don't have waiters who want you to leave ASAP. you just grab your cup and take a seat. i use to stay around 1-1,5 hrs

HAHAHAHA

I dunno, I felt quite inspired when I was there. ;)

This is a cool idea. I too love the Starbucks and have done many a sketch there. The only problem in Manhattan, is that for me sketching in Starbucks for some reason seems to attract the strange and the homeless into conversation. The Ipod is always a necessity.

I will have to check this out when school slows down and I have the leisure time to sit in Starbucks again.

You ask, we serve! well it isn't a amsterdam-coffee-shop-sketch but a tilburg-coffee-shop-sketch, but that matters little :P

I'm planning to do some different type of sketching outside. I already bought additional equipment. It sounds a bit crazy so I'll write what it is after trying out.

wa......w...waaaaait a minute. you know what would be super awesome to see? i mean really badass awesome??

An Andrew Jones Coffeeshop-Sketch

and you know what would be even more awesome??

The photo of him, sitting there with his huge tablet and painting some dude sitting there. (I mean the wacom must be half the size of the coffeeshop??)

What crazy symbols and colors would float and fly trough this one?????

We'll never know.

But we'd love to.

I'll go sleep now.

Cheers

It's the first time I've heard of it, but it looks quite fun and great to do, I might give it a go when I drop by some coffeehouses.

I wanna do coffee shop sketches! :D

Although the only coffee shop I know of locally is a tiny one in the back of a tiny book store on main st. You just go up there, get a coffee and leave, or look at a book. Only 2 tables or so there to sit so I wouldn't have any luck there. O.o

I have brought my sketchbook with me one time to an italian restaurant. I didn't have the nerve to draw a person so I drew where I was looking.

I wish I could go to a huge starbucks or a barnes & noble bookstore to sketch that way but they're in another city and I don't get to go there often.

I live in the armpit of the world. :(
Don't get to go to comic cons, sketch meetings or nothin'.

Yeah I dont have the nerve to do it :( I feel that if I start drawing then people will looking at my drawing, and if it isn't good I 'll feel embarrassed. I was sketching in the park and this girl looked at my drawing and said it was great. When I looked at it afterwards, it was terribly disproportionate and the subject wasn't even rendered well.
