Hi, I've been wondering about character designs... I've looked around and I've seen all kinds of character designs, but I can't figure out what basics are usually looked for or required in a sheet.

Of course its up to the publisher/developer, but say you were taking a collection of sheets and you weren't sure who would be looking at them ... what would these sheets contain?

5 face shots? 10 face shots?

3 turn around shots?

No turn around shots, go for expressive, personality filled poses?

oAo;

Thankyou for your replies.

As you said, it depends on who you're making the sheets for. If you don't know who will be looking at them then you have to put what you think is important on the sheet. It's all baout what you want to communicate to the viewer.

What I've been taught-
Both games and comics:
Attitudes (poses) and expressions (faces showing a range of emotions) Again, as many as are needed (around 5-10).

For video games:
Model sheet - neutral pose at least two views, usually front + side, but use however many you need too convey the important info for the modeler.
Attitudes are less important, but useful to the animators for special moves, oddities and unusual creatures. Expressions are also less important but also nice to have. 3-5 should be sufficient for each.
