Heya;
Here's another one from the vaults. Maybe a little bit Dark Crystal influenced? Never before seen!
*Scroll down to see the unpainted original

Awesome, I really like the variety of texture you have gotten into it, from his chest to arm to stomach. All has a slightly different feel which makes it so much more interesting.
Would love to see some more shots of this.

Wow, this is really cool. so whats your process to color it? I think you said b-4 that you sculpt, then bring a photo into Pshop and color it? Or did you just paint it...
either way, this is too dope. And this IS my desktop now. thanks mang!

The nostrils where a definite Barlowe rip off.

Yes, I'd like to do some metal casting...but not with monster stuff. I have some wierd fine art ideas I'd like to get cast in bronze or maybe aluminum. Too expensive for my budget right now though.

This was an early photoshop paint test. That's why it looks a little funny. It does to me at least. The original is just an primer gray painted thing on the shelf.

Don't have any other pics of it, but I'll put up more stuff soon

In real life it's not so impressive. Just a little 9 inch tall bust type thing. No color or anything. The back side isn't even a finished sculpt. Ahh, the magic of computers. Here's a picture of the thing in real life...sad isn't it?

This is some absolutely fantastic stuff.
I sculpt a bit as a hobby from time to time but I've recently been slacking. Your work makes me want to break out the clay again.
BTW, what material do you prefer to use? Currently I use super sculpey and I would like to try chavant, but I cant seem to find a decent place to purchase it from. Plus theres so many different kinds of Chavant that I'm not sure what to get.
Then, of course there's armatures.. thats where I get lazy.

Turqy:
Yeah, Super Sculpy is the shit. You might want to try adding a little Sculpy III to it to change the color. I recently started doing that and it helps. If the translucent pink color bugs you you can add a little Sculpy III white and some other color to it to make it more opaque or more appropriate to your subject matter.
Google a company called Douglas and Sturgess. They're here in SF, but will mail out. For something relatively small, I'd recommend Chavant cm50. Cm70 is good too, but I find it a little hard for my taste. Anyway.... maybe I'll put up a simple armature tutorial sometime. It's pretty easy, but also worth doing right. Good luck, thanks for the comment.
