OK I am really considering going to california for a school i looked up called . i really want a career in animation and game design. i heard they have a really good art program, but the course is very very accelerated. you recieve your 'certificate' in 10wks or so. is that really enough time to learn everything? and will employers accept students from with a certificate???
p.s. is there anyone from school that could give me some insight about what they had to endure thanx! and any advice is much appreciated:sungod:

Would somebody tell me why the above URL becomes default when I type in
h t t p : / / w w w . g n o m o n 3 d . c o m ?
Somehow I think there's some internal squabbling going on?

Does anyone know the story behind the distortion of the g nomon name?
Anyways, my impression is that it's a good program, but only advisable if you already have a pretty strong artistic background.

If I am not mistaken the 10 week course is for the fast track which is JUST to learn Maya. You don't learn anything other than how to work the program. The certificate program last 2 years, not 10 weeks.
I have heard lots of good things from the school but to tell you the truth. It seems to me that there are few people every year that are really good and come out with a good reel. The rest don't seem to be coming out with anything decent for reels.
I went and visited the school not too long ago. I find it strange that all the work that they talk up is all old... like from 2005 and before. All the artwork on the walls are older works. The other thing is the person I talked to at the school said it is hard to hold on to the industry professionals because they have to pay them so much... I don't know if this has been a problem for them recently and that is why they don't have the greatest work as of late or what.
These are all just simply thoughts of mine. I have heard from many people that the school is really good and most people get jobs when they finish.
Do a search on the www.cgtalk.com forum and you will find a thread that has about 8 or so pages about the school.
Good luck!
