Jacko and Whiskers

My little brother decided to call them Jacko and Whiskers...don't ask me why....Anyway, I'm still getting used to digital painting, so I'm not really sure how to get good textures as far as skin and whatnot. Any help would be appreciated.

so jacko is the eye, and whiskers is the big guy right, would be cool if they were, take it to the next level, its good now but it could be great, refine it, give the background some life, and add some more detail in general, then you'll be on track
