Hi again!
Everybody here that tries to make his/her warrior is a true artist! Keep it coming. These I like a lot:
Benzo: Nice egyptian pose and coloring. Good mood...
Strych9ine: That is awesome and weird! I love it! It'll win!
Ploboyko: Scary! I dont want to fight your design... hahaha...
Joshua: I like your character, but there's something about the coloring that I don't know... I suck with colors so who am I to say... But design is very cool! Feet are fine!
Flint: Very nice! Not very original, but well done. Looks very strong.
JerMohler: Nice comicmood! I love it! Can't wait to see the colors...
Oglzogl: Very personal! Nice!
Rusty: Maori is cool!
Here's my Samurai with ink. Now comes the hardest thing for me: Colors! Oh no... I can't do it! Well... I try... ok... I'd love to hear what you think of my entry.

All made in photoshop with a digital(!) mac mouse (!!).
It took a long time, especially when itīs made with a digital mac mouse from hell...
Something wrong with elbow, will fix, if I have the stamina to finish this with a digital mouse...

(I'm sure this has been said before about other peices but...) I dont think that the samurai you have drawn qualifies for the correct time periods in the rules.

Schlo-mo,
Read about origin of Samurais here www.judoinfo.com/samurai.htm (and if my Samurai isn't ok, then it's the dude in front of my pic.)
Good luck everybody!

mcotie : i stared making a roman gladiator , but now i don't know does it count as "warrior of ancient civilization". YEs No, i dont know what to do, can i post it, help :D

oDD. Yes Romans qualify as Pre-middle ages. Go for it!

The dividing line between the era of ancient civilizations and the middle ages is roughly 450 AD. If your character comes from a civilization and time frame before 450 AD then you are good to go. If there is a loophole allowed for other primitive cultures outside of Western Europe, for instance, the mayan and aztec cultures of Central America which came to their hight several centuries after 450 AD, I do not know...
In other words oDD, your Roman Gladiator is definitely in the right era, as the 450 ad switch between ancient and middle ages coincides with the fall of the western half od the Roman Empire, if I remember correctly.
Cheers

carniflex, tone your colors down. If I stare at your pic and then blink my eyes really quick I can see it everywhere I look.
but If that's what you were going for, mission accomplished.

hehe, well i want to use strong colours(for the moment) to show the glory in which the egyptians lived, but we'll see how i'm going on.
update:
http://www.renderosity.com/photos/ArtistArticle5760.jpg
i'm not too happy with the colour of the *hat*.need to change the background into something enviromental, add small details and shadows/highlights.

Josh has a point... with the colors you chose, it'a actually kind of tough to look at the screen for more than a couple seconds. It's like staring into a technicolor sun. The piece would benefit from some neutralization, IMO.

It's not finished but i won't paint today anymore , blood driping from my eyes on my tablet makes it hard to paint.
Ok after about 10 hours of work i got this:

any sugestions how to make it look better/cooler ?

bright yellow eyes.
Hazart
October 29th, 2003, 04:35 PM
Great pic oDD. My opinion is that bright eyes art bit korny. Used a lot. It would be too "Terminator" for me then... I find it hard to come up with improvments, 'cause that's so good, but maybe you could work on some details to the shield.
Here's the Samurai! Still lot to do (highlights etc.) and not enought time. AAARGTH! Comments are welcome!

THeres some very cool stuff happening here, but I have a feeling that this is just the tip of the iceberg. No doubt there is a bliztkrieg of even more kick-ass entries just waiting for the last few seconds to appear. Unfortunately, mine won't be among them. I'm gonna have to sit this one out after all because I'm not gonna have access to a computer for the next four days. Oh well. I'll make a new entry to post after the deadline just to say I participated.
Good Luck!

Carniflex, I see improvement. Your anatomy still needs practice, but you fixed the colors and the highlights look good. This is turning out to be one of your better pieces.
good work.

I was really looking forward to having my ass kicked by all the awesome entries, too!
