So yeah, to start off, I didn't know where to put this thread so if there is another forum that would be more suiting, please point me to it.
Well I have always been interested in art, but never really got around to getting into it. I don't have enough money for proper art lessons, and I have heard the ones in my school are no good.
So where would I go from here? What would I do next to develop my skill and start to learn my style?

Get Betty Edwards "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" from your library or school. Do the exercises, ignore the "science".
Draw lots.
Forget about "style" entirely.

Now download and read all of those. (ta to Acid for continued hosting after many moons)..
Start with "Fun with a Pencil".
If you can find a lifedrawing class, go to that, if not, don't stress it, just draw anything else.
Now browse around the forums.
Tutorial section is here..

Practice, rinse, repeat until awesome.

go and find out for yourself? a class doesn't have to be tailor made for you. take out of it what is useful, ignore the rest.
other than that i always thought 'keys to drawing' by dodson is the best beginner drawing book.
