contrapposto and chiastic

What is the difference between contrapposto and chiastic poses in art.. more specifically i'm looking at Michaelango's David and Polykleitos' Doryphoros.

from what I understand 'contrapposto' is when the model subject's torso is twisted on its vertical axis in the opposite direction of of the pelvis. You can see this in a lot of greek sculpture. A 'chiastic' pose is just a pose where the model subject's weight is resting on one leg. An example of this would be Michaelangelo or Donatello's sculptures of David.

thanks for the reply.. i was beginning to think no one takes my posts seriously...

the way i thought is that contrappasto and chiastic are similar.. except chiastic was symmetrical while contrapposto didn't necessarily have to be symmetrical

michaelangelo's david is asymetrical...
polykleitos' is more symetrical...

I guess it's one of those mathmatical things. from what I see, a chiastic pose will always be a contropasto pose, but it is not always the other way around. right? I'm trying to understand it for myself, too.
