I, i'm new here!
My brother (pantless_wandere (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=121411)r) introduced me to this site, and since I love to draw, here am I.
I might be only 13 years old, but I aim to be a professional artist some day, so don't forget to crit my work if you stop by.
My "art" is coming in the next post. The picture quality isn't the best (cellphone camera)... sorry for that.

hey, if you're 13 and you want to be an artist now then that's great. you get a chance to start early and get a lot of practice in. i just decided to pop in here and give you some encouragement, since i wasn't as brave as you. it took me long time to post a sketchbook in here and i'm WAAAY older.
have you thought about getting an human anatomy book and copying that?

Yay, I got a reply! :D
I have lots of anatomy books already... well, they're from my brother but I use them anyway. But in the past months I din't had much time to do anatomy studies becouse of school exams, so all I did was quick cartoony sketches and now I'm finding it hard to getting back to the "serious" anatomy stuff again :(
Also, I took a look at your sketchbook and I really liked your stuff but I can't say much couse I'm still a beginner. :)
...and some more sketches (studies from Vilppu, Mattesi and Jack Hamm):

i think your figures are really nice there andrea - good and dynamic poses with lots of life in them. you got a proper confident line and a pretty good sense of shapes too. if you just keep on drawing and learning you'll be great before you know it. it's all about the mileage isn't it? enjoy and keep at it.

Kaffinated - Thank you! :D
tensai - Thanks. I'll sure keep on working to get better and better :)
And now some new stuff, including more Mattesi studies (I just love doing them :P):

Some studies I did today. This time the photos had to be taken with artificial light so they are even worse than usual... sorry :\

Hello Andreia,
I would highly recommend getting in the habit of browsing art books at libraries. Just explore what's out there, especially good quality catalogs of museums. I'm talking about the giant, 5-10lb books that show you every painting or drawing in the Louvre, Metropolitan, Prado, Hermitage, MFA, Frick, Vatican etc. Ask yourself what you like and dislike, and see if your opinions change in a few years :)

13? You're lucky, I only got interested in this stuff when I was about 14 and a half. I'm 16 at the moment.
Great work in here, you'll definitely go far if you keep going like this.

darkwolfb87: Thanks for the advice. I do spend some time looking at art books but it's mostly stuff from my brother (James Jean, John Foster, Frazzeta...). But theres also stuff from Van Gogh, Piranesi and some mythology encyclopedias with AMAZING paintings around the house. But I know some works by the likes of Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Dali and Rubens (love the stuff from the last one).
drd: Thanks! :)

Really beautiful drawings. I like the simplified figure drawings: they're dramatic and efficient.
Keep drawing, you! Just remember, when you're 80 and famous, make sure you talk about DAVE, the one who encouraged you! :P

I really enjoy seeing you drawings. They are very cute and beautiful. You are doing great job with that style and the last one is so nice to see. Might have been said before, but good job on starting so early, at your age I was only doodling Teenage Mutant Turtles stuff hehe and there weren't even half as good. A suggestion for anatomy studies, that bridgman book will help you a lot and also would be beneficial if you get a hold of the Loomis books which are free online and are full of great knowledge. Keep it up and enjoy it!

Hei, Coralinia.
I love yer style - it's simple and expressive at the same time.
The best picture until now is that one with the five girls, wanting to reach the highest flower. It's a great idea and yer style fits perfect to it. Even if I guess it wouldn't be possible. Just pull up five girls of the streets and try it out. xD It's the best and easiest way to figure out what's possible and what's not.
I would like to see more pictures which are coloured. :3
Go on with yer work. ;3
So long,
..::bg::..
(Damned, yeah, I'm jealous of yer skills at this age. >3)

wow, you've reached already the level you can draw really pleasing characters. your pictures are cute, your lines are nice, I like the flow, the livelyness... your studies are good too.
it's good you are serious at this age and you seemingly has talent. as far as an almost 32 year old programmer (who is a complete beginner in drawing) can tell... ;)

Thanks Té-Can and shiNIN. I'm not so good with shading and painting, but this update includes one not-so-serious try for both... and more Mattesi studies.

Hi Coralinia, nice drawings.
The stylization is very nice.
i think if you improve the line quality and rendering/colouring you would have wonderfull illustrations.
Maybe you should try new mediums for painting, digital would work really well there.
cheers

coralinia,
the cuteness of these drawings are awesome! I like the fact that you even do turnarounds/head studies of your characters!
keep it up with those hand studies and observational drawings as well!

prelude2tragedy - Obrigado! :D
