I really doing concept art and I'm just wondering what it's like working as a concept artist. Someone told me that concept artists don't really have full time jobs like 3D artists do in the game industry. They said you work from contracts. What does working from contracts mean? Are there full time jobs for concept artists meaning there are artists that just show up to work everyday and all they do is draw/paint concept art without doing 3D? Any other info about working as a concept artist is appreciated!

There are tons of full time positions at game and film studios like 3d artists have.

However, if you do contract work, it involves signing a contract, whereby you work for your employer for a specified amount of time or specific amount of work, and then your job is over. Sometimes you go into the studio every day just like the other employees for this contract, and sometimes you do the work from your home and send them the work.

As of so far, I have only gotten contact work, and I do it all from my home in my comfy recliner. I love it.

I also wonder what an average production schedule(if there is such a thing) is like...what kind of work, how much is produced on a daily/weekly basis? I'm sure it must vary but how many concepts/finished pieces does, say a Massive Black artist,in the midst of a game design, produce weekly?

I have a similar question as Penumbra, basicly the same question asked backwards, so instead of starting another thread, im just gonna add it here:

How long do these (contract) jobs usualy last?

(Im not good with deadlines, i dont think i could handle a job like this anyways)
