Obviously, these thieves don't have the intelligence to at least keep consistency in the stuff they rip. you can tell just by studying the artwork (as you do, coz it is nice artwork!) that they are by different artists.
Its a real shame that it happens.
My condolences to the 'victims' (for want of a better word)
best wishes

What the hell? How friggin pathetic is all of this! Is their a boost in art theft or are just hearing about it more? Either way, plaguristic wannabe-artist goons piss me off, especially when I pay tuition for formal art education and work really hard to do my own work, which doesn't even measure up to what I want it too be.
"I think I'll steal someone else's stuff. Screw hard work!" Damnit that pisses me off more than I can even express. It takes a complete lack of conscience and respect to do this. They deserve every bit of abuse they get once they've been "outed". :bash: :rambo: :xx:

This is all nothing, my friends, i may tell u a funny story.
Once upon a time, there was this sick/stupid-as-goat/brainless idiot....he went to one of the biggest fantasy convents in my country(and its big) and he was trying to sell reprints of ROYO'S sketches as his own reprints!!!
THIS is what i call being a total,f***ing jerk!
It's good that you are catching those bastards here.

the site is down.
i may not be the best sketch/concept artist yet, but i'm working damn hard to get there whenever i can, and people who can't put forth that same effort and find the feeling when you really accomplish something should be pitied.
welcome to life, you gotta take responsibility. :bash:

My condolences to the 'victims' (for want of a better word)
ditto
Yeah you found out who the bastard is, but can u do anything about it? I mean like bring him to court or somthing? I for one hope you tear em down.
I cant seem to be able to navigate the site though, to me all the links are dead.
Oh, and was the stuff copyrighted by any chance?
this really pisses me off.
BTW I love the perfect "engrish" on the site:
"Maybe in this space is the latest news flash... this will be the game play or the story about the game featured.. "

I just sent him an email advising him to stop using the images he's stolen and to apologize to all those he stole form before more drastic measures are taken... just thought I'd let y'all know. Peace.

Davi, I saw it too... but I thought u guys hacked his site and put it there as a sign of CA.org is on your trail and reverend Davi is leading the posse....
If not, it was in some commersial of his next upcoming image.
EDIT* I think it was the hunters, the pic is gone but the text is still there. /End edit *
All other images were down, another thing that lead me to the conclusion above.
Hope no swede does this kind of thing, not many employers in sweden and the probability of having your own artwork questioned is bigger here than the US I guess (extremy much smaller group of employers, and if someone else shows MY work it not unlikely I come I week later to show the same pics... huuh makes me scared...
Go get this :bash: !

here's a suggestion, all the artist who post their work should add a huge water mark of thier name or logo on their pieces so that these idiot rejects out there can't steal your work.

Wow, it's really good that you caught this bastard. It's sad to see when people stoop SO low, that they steal anothers artwork. How could anyone live with themselves if they did this? I sure couldn't!
It's people like this guy, diablo (is that his nick?), that make things harder for anyone trying to make it in the competitive world of art.
Well...Atleast I'm not good enough for anybody to steal my work off of me ... (yet!)
Let's try to keep an eye out for other people like this.
And sadly this isn't the first time I've seen something like this happen. :/
Later.
P.S. - anybody got some free time + his email address? Could do some damage - he deserves it. :/
Peace.

And he will never get a job in concept art, the end.
With a community this small, I'm sure his name will get around/be blacklisted, but the sheer cojones to do that...dayum.

Don't get me wrong here, by no means am I defending this persons actions. I too am outrages. But I was wondering how many of us download music from the internet without paying for it or use pirated software on their computers. I think acts like this give us a good opportunity to be a little self-reflective before lighting the torches.
Maybe this is just "apples and oranges".
I don't mean to be "preachy", just thinking out loud.
Peace
Dan

Well, it is kinda apples and oranges, i never would dare to claim to have produced that music. This comparison would rather go for people making cover songs... without the reference to the original...
Anyway, i think a person like that must have a real low self-esteem and moral. It must be a really poor human that he has to lie to himself about his own skills...
If it wouldn't be so despicable, it would almost be tragic.

Dan, I think that the entitlement a lot of people feel towards file sharing contributes to the thief's mentality. The art's on the internet, readily available, and there are no immediate consequences for their actions. File sharing is copyright infringement, but it's often used simply for personal use. Someone is still getting stiffed out of compensation for the file (music, software, or otherwise), much like the visual artists that get ripped off. It comes down to ethics in this case... if you like something you've downloaded, pay respect to the creator and purchase it eventually.
This said, stealing art in order to get work and falsely promote yourself is a knife that cuts even deeper. Individuals like this guy and Runyon specifically set out to steal other's artwork to make money from it. We share art for everyone's enjoyment... we all thrive of the online art community to inspire us and to learn, but our trust in each other is being taken advantage of by these bastards. It won't stop, but if we keep each other informed like this we can protect ourselves and our hard work from being exploited.
Sorry for the diatribe, time for beer.

Hey guys,
I agree with what your saying. No argument here. My point is that software developers "trust" us to be faithful to the contract we agree to when we install it. I've always purchased my software (Photoshop,Painter, etc.)because I profit from the hard work and creativity others put into developing the software. Infact my business has grow enormously since i began to work digitally. When a client buys my artwork we agree on a useage. I expect them to honor that agreement. Shouldn't we expect the same from ourselves?

October 7th, 2003, 10:22 AM
Although many people download music and pirate software without paying for it (never done it- afix appropriate halo over user name) I don't think it's the same as what's been done by these guys. The vast majority of us enjoy looking at the art that appears here and other sites. After all if we were concerned enough about art theft none of us would post at all.
The difference here , as strych9ine said, is someone is using it to PROFIT from (ie. land a job).
Even before the internet there were bootleg recordings and stolen portfolios (a girl from my college got her graduate portfolio ripped off while she was in the can!). The difference now is that it's much easier, therefore more prevelant.
In the end the, I don't think the 'seasoned pros' have much to worry about here as they're probably already established. The damage is done to the newbies looking for that first job that get beaten out by a scammer.
Having said all this we should also be on the lookout for false claims of plagerism. Imagine the harm if someone who had a bone to pick with you accused you of something like this. It's a small world on the net but not small enough to easily undo that.
Sorry about the long bah, blah, I'll go now.

I apologize for the lateness of this post. I have been away on private matters, and when I returned to post the forum was down. Seems like I had a knack on coming on, just when the forum was down.
Well, most of you (if not all) know about the latest unveiled art thief (Initials H.M.). I’m a co-founder of the company he faked his way in to. I was the one who O.K.’d him. He didn’t get paid, and we’ve set aside the artworks he posted (they won’t be used in development without the correct creator’s permission).
Some of you may have caught the “post”; we operate on a private Internet forum with team members telecommuting from around the world. We’re a fledgling team in our pre-proposal phase. We are developing “Netherstorm” a mature 3d massive online dark fantasy role-playing game that focuses, and caters to player involvement with many embedded end games. We have no head office to bring someone in to for an interview and art test, we can’t sit people down and have them draw for us.
I hate that this happened. I come here and apologize to the victimized artists, and extend my sympathies. The brought some great work to the team, and raised everyone’s excitement, and suspicion as well. Not only did he hurt this community, but dealt a blow to my team’s morale as well. We have recovered but it was a waste of time, and effort.
As we’ve saw with other fraud artist stories, people who start doing this, and have it work, don’t simply stop once they’ve been exposed. I gave him a “victory” and he’s probably going to use the same “proven” tactics on other unsuspecting recruiters. I was caught unaware in my inexperience with recruiting, and was victimized as well. Now, I won’t be able to regard a new artist without skepticism or suspicion. People like Harold will only make barriers such as those in the hiring process, bogging down hirers with what would essentially be “background checks”. Anyone I meet in a position to employ will be made aware that this happens and the scope of it. I’m not going to sit on this in order to save face. I, and my company, are now acutely aware of this and will stand against it. We have learned and we will teach.
Concept art has been a great source for finding up and coming talented artists. I look forward to establishing a working relationship with concept art and any interested artists
Regards,
Xavier
