Hey all.

I'm 15 Yrs old (now 16, as of April 08 ), and would like to my improve my artistic skills, blah blah blah, *insert dream job*, blah blah, etc etc.

These are my latest 'finished' pieces.

This was done for my recent gcse art exam.

These were done as prep, and were referenced. I didn't paint over other images, but i gridded them, which I is probably not as good as just drawing them from eye, but at least it's better than a paintover.

I'll post some of my distinctly unspectacular sketches soon. Unfortunately, they're not particularly good, but hopefully that will change eventually. Thanks for your time,

E.Silva

These are looking great. Wish I could draw like that when I was 15. You seem to have a decent knowledge of form and lighting. Keep working on it and post more!

Unfortunately, I've managed to get a headache, so that's all I'm doing today. There will be more though, in the near future (tomorrow).
Yrs,

Yet more Bridgman! I think that's enough Bridgman for today, at least.

Is it worth actually posting all these studies on here? or should I just post the occasional one?

I'll carry on posting everything then. Half an hour on Posemaniacs.

Here's some drawings from posemaniacs (60 seconds). not very happy with them:(...
The most important thing for those kind of quick sketches is to focus on the movement\attitude of the figure instead of focusing on the form. Just make quick lines to represent the action of the figure instead of worrying about anatomy and contour (thats for longer drawings).

If you don't know it already, I strongly reccomend you the book Force: Dynamic Life Drawing for Animators by Mike Mattesi to learn about movement. It's probably my favourite drawing book... at least it made the quality of my drawings improve more than any other book did.

The bridgmans studies look really good, pretty good hands.
Keep on practicing those poses from pose maniacs, you are getting better at them. :)
Keep it up.

Not done nearly enough drawing over the last few days considering the amount of time I've had - I blame Bethseda (Morrowind, to be particular). Anyway, here, whether you want more or not, are some Bridgman studies! Betcha never saw that ONE coming along now, did ya?

I fail at Posemaniacs. Again. I should buy the book pantless wanderer mentioned.

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z147/dumbarton/02-6.jpg

Is their anyway to reduce the number of images that come up in posemaniacs that have rather extreme perspective? These ones tend to throw me off even more than usual.

Some concept sketches for the current C.O.W competition.

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z147/dumbarton/Zumdingerconcept.jpg
http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z147/dumbarton/ZumdingerRenderWebExportV1.jpg

Started painting it, but I didn't really like it, so I started again. New concepts:

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z147/dumbarton/concept2.jpg

followed by a new painting (currently a WIP)

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z147/dumbarton/paint2Export.jpg

Unfortunately, due to this and general laziness, I haven't done any studies over the last few days. Must....Do.....More....Studies.....soon.....maybe. ...

great anatomy studies
the color pieces are not as cared for as the studies.
think more about light falling over form (advice i need to heed myself) and material. I dont really see the birds feathers as feathers but some other material.
hope that helps

Well, I've not been posting as much as I should. I won't bother with excuses. Instead, I'll post some work: this is some prep for a drawing I've been 'commissioned' to do by a friend at school. Yes, it is Oogie Boogie and Nick Cave. If you think that's odd, wait till you see the final product.

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z147/dumbarton/prepdrawings01.jpg

Ill post some of the studies I've been doing tomorrow.

E.Silva

i like the style from this last sketch, the sketch of nick cave from the bottom left looks really nice.
it could be interesting if you explored this direction in parallel with your bridgman studies.
good luck !

Well, speaking of Bridgman studies, here's some more:

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z147/dumbarton/02-7.jpg
http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z147/dumbarton/01-6.jpg
http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z147/dumbarton/03-5.jpg
http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z147/dumbarton/04-1.jpg
http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z147/dumbarton/05.jpg
http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z147/dumbarton/06.jpg
http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z147/dumbarton/07.jpg

Slayer: Thanks for the comment and the compliment! I think the reason the styles look so different is because when I do the Bridgman stuff, I'm copying his lines, and his way of drawing. With the Nick Cave pictures, I'm just drawing from a photo, so it's closer to my own 'style'/interpretation. I'll certainly be doing more of both, at any rate.

Ho your works is very good !!
But don't forget. The important is to understand what you do. How the skulls are articuled and many anatomic details. But I thinks It's what you do when I'm looking your work. Draw to draw is useless ^^

I'm still here :). My GCSE's are just about to end, and the reason why I haven't posted anything was because I dropped the studies, and just filled up a few sketchbooks with stuff from my head. While fun, the end results were abysmal, to the point where I haven't had enough confidence to post them.

Next week, after my GCSE's, I'm gonna be revvin up the art engines again, and what with the 12 week break till sixth form, hopefully I'll see some real results.
