Has anyone heard of this online school? (http://www.animationmentor.com/) I'm considering taking it. It seems like it's probably more effective than most college animation programs.

I've looked at it. It seems to get students good at what single thing (ie, animation itself) with no instruction on fundamentals or other areas of CG. It would probably be enough to get a job, but limiting your education so much might come back to bite you.

i agree. I was really considering taking that school too. Heard wonderful things about their classes. But the main factor is just what Meloncov said. They ONLY focus on character animation. The work that comes out there is great, but thats all you learn. You dont even make your own rig. They give them to you. It would be the ideal school, for if you plan to continue your education after or use as a type of "Graduate school".

But chances of finding a job just as a character animator is very slim. And there would most likely be more "well-rounded" candidates up for the same job.

Admittedly, that does have an almost overwhelming appeal just about now.




I think Animation Mentor would be best suited for a serious hobbyist who already had some expierence with all areas of the program who wanted to become a professional.
