to put it bluntly:
this is not the kind of forum where a "fan art" thread is likely to receive a warm response. lay off on the dodge/burn tool. do some value studies.

No worries, they're old pieces anyways. Are concept art and deviantart like.. rivals or something? Cause all my art is on that site, but I don't understand, this site is about art, and fan art isn't exactly welcome? Weird...

This site is about production art and formal art education.

Over at deviantart you wont get much structure like you will get here. We can still save you! Open up a sketchbook here (http://conceptart.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=41) Prepare to take critiques and become better. Plus explore the website.

Oh, thankyou. :) So, do I just like.. post sketch stuff on a forum here?

Yes, post your work on a sketchbook, anything you want. Just be prepared to receive critiques, but dont worry, they are usually from people who are highly regarded in their field, so you will get the best critiques here. And yeah, fan art isnt really looked at as that fascinating unless it is presented in a new style not traditional with the original art used to make the character.

While there are certainly some artists of considerable skill on deviantart, the majority of the deviantart population is for the most part considered an annoyance and a blight here.
While fan art can be fun, this forum revolves around art as a career, a dedicated passion and a serious pursuit. As the name Conceptart states, this forum revolves around pushing the boundaries of original design, and the endless pursuit of perfecting rendering to a believable reality.
If your interests revolve solely around the creation of fanart as a hobby (the near entirety of your gallery at deviantart consists of anime fanart and random snapshots), now would be a prudent time to return to Deviantart.
The demographic there will be no doubt much more accepting and approving of the Dragonball Z, final fantasy and sonic pictures comprise the body of your work.
If youre here to improve though... crit center..., or sketch book forum....
One more thing:
Her name is Yuna, another from Final Fantasy X.
Yes, we know..... It may be prudent to realize, that it's not too far of a stretch to find people here who had some part in creating this game.

It's interesting how he kept mentioning the "majority" of Devianart.
The "majority" of CA is morons...people just kissing up to others.

I'd like to think the majority of CA are people who are actually interested in learning. And what you call "Kissing up" could just be people finally having an opportunity to message or talk to someone they really respect, and who knows, might work with/for someday. The people really using this site to their advantage are pursuing their future careers.
If you have such a high opinion of this community, then why are you here?

As bad as fan art may be for the most part, you guys basically sit here and make patronizing comments to these guys in the lounge when you each probably aren't Michelangelos yet either.

I'm going to use hip hop here for an analogy. There was a time, early on, when DJs covered up their records. They hid their arsenal and techniques in an attempt to be able to out do each other. But this stagnated the genre and, as part of hip hop is about togetherness and community, eventually the stickers came off the labels and DJs came together. They joined one another and said "This is what we do and how we do it. Learn this and take it somewhere else. Figure out thing we havent yet, and come back and show everyone. If we learn from each other, we can take this art higher for those to follow us."
That's more or less what we have here at ConceptArt. We have a bunch of people that love what we do and want to see it taken further. The "kissing up" is also known as "appreciation". There are many people here that are amazing talents that are already in the field. To have access to them in such a capacity is them tearing the stickers off their records for you to see how they did what they did. Every person here wants every other person to excel. The fact that the leaders of Massive Black are regular posters in these forums, with their schedules, show a dedication to both community and individuals. The fact that there are countless people from countless positions in the industries we all dream of being in, are here, helping each other and those up and coming to further our arts is unprecedented. Artists that care about artists and art. Pure and simple. Sites like this or CG Networks are an amazing asset that you should not take for granted due to some foolish war of pride nestled between ones and zeros. If you dont care for critique and compliment from your brothers in arms, then you dont care about your art. If you dont care for what places like this due to further what it is we all love, then you dont care about art.

Sturgeon's law (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sturgeon%27s_law), my friend. What makes you think you are in the minority?
Are concept art and deviantart like.. rivals or something?
No.

No.
For the record, I don't think there was anything wrong with AncientWorlds' idea for a thread, except that it probably should have been in Community Activities wit the other "draw a ..." ones.
