Yup, another Heavy Metal erotically-charged-animated feature is underway.

Both David Fincher and Kevin Eastman are to direct segments; as will Tim Miller (Blur Studios). All three of these guys are to produce. More directors to be added. This will be R-rated.

Variety article here. (http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117982413.html?categoryid=13&cs=1)

And I know, I know - there was another one in 2000 and it sucked. But this sounds promising so far. I can't wait to see what Fincher might do and I can't wait to see what other directors they can line up for this.

There isn't a word invented yet to describe just how bad the 2nd Heavy Metal film was when compared to the 1st :)

agreed

Hopefully this will end up being as good as the animatrix.

Does anyone know if the whole movie is going to be 2d animation, or is there going to be some stuff in CG?

If Blur is doing the animation I know at least it will be incredible in the visual department.

Go BLur!

i wish Eastmen wasn't involved at all,

he's made the whole franchise a vehicle for himself and his pals...or worse his girlfriend...frankly i'm embarrassed for his blatant fanboyism

where as the original was meant to be an international anthology

but i agree fincher's inclusion is promising ,
perhaps this is an admission of his aesthetic failure of the franchise on some level
