So weird that Ed Norton is directing and starring in this. And its not part 2, its a complete remake from what I heard before. But it does look a fuckload better then the last one. Id see it. And its not a new guy, thats edward norton...a big star.

Yeah, usually people seem to like Ed Norton better then that crap actor Eric Bana-na. If not like, they at least usually know who he is.
And dear god, why did you have to bring up that horrid movie into this forum Fat Kid?

lol, reminds me of the hulk and Ang Lee in robot chicken. Seriously what was the guy thinking, doing a great job with poetic Chinese movie and then move on to do the hulk.

I'm confused, I thought this was a re-boot?
Will it be a sequel or a new "origin"?

New make of the Hulk story after the other one was a huge flop.

halflife99 it's not a sequel, they are acting as if the first Hulk movie never happened and starting from scratch per say. All new cast "obviously" new hulk design "obviously".
I think the trailer alone looks 10 times better than the first Hulk movie. I also think that him against this other creature "not sure if this villain is from the stories" looks much more interesting than giant mutant dogs and his supposed father being some kind of storm/electric monster. I like the design of this Hulk and the face much better, even his color is better than the bright tasteless green and the purple ripped jeans from the first (Ang Lee) version.
I remember seeing someone had mentioned Marko worked/contributed to this new version?

The villain (Tim Roth) is the Abomination, although I kind of miss his lumpy head and fin ears.

"According to screenwriter Zak Penn, the film continues from Hulk (2003) but will be more similar to "The Incredible Hulk" (1978); he compared the two films to Ridley Scott's Alien (1979) and its sequel, James Cameron's Aliens (1986), which were very different films but still in the same continuity."
Then apparently Norton rewrote it as "reboot".

Who is Ed Norton????
almost surprised suppose he is not any big blockbuster roles, this may be the first... The score did not really do well money wise but was entertaining...
Oni Rem surely you saw Fight Club... ???
the first hulk was ok, Eric Bana does not suck watch Chopper for proof of this but he seems to be getting suck with less than meaty roles..eg. Hulk, Troy and some film about gambling with Drew Barrymore.
Main problem I feel is that Ang Lee while a very good director tried to get experimental and arty with first part trying to imitate a comic book but this was at odds with the slow pacing and build up then the second half just felt like Hulk smash, Hulk runaway, Army attack, etc...
It worth watching just to see Nick Nolte completely out of it for all the scenes he is in. I read somewhere that he did not remember making the film, I believe that.

I quite liked the original 'Hulk' film, it didn't follow any cliches, which it could quite of easily done. Can't say it was perfect, but neither were the spider-man films and everyone seems to love them. I think it more just came out at the wrong time. It went up against Spider-man during the summer, when everyone was expecting to see a blockbuster film, and it just wasn't.
I kind of prefer the look of the old hulk, more than this one. He was more bulky in the original, from what I can remember and some how more real, where as here he seems pretty thin and made of nothing but muscle. I guess it depends on which version of the comic book hulk your looking for.

Oh, what a surprise. After the first one, I had completely written off about a new Hulk movie. Although I tend to agree with flatliner. Before Batman Begins came out, Hulk was the only of the new superhero movies that had at least SOME kind of originality. And even though it was just poorly executed, I liked it for it's still moments. The kind of stuff the Spiderman makers ignored for box office reasons.
Cool trailer. I'm curious about how Edward Norton gets out of this without a scratch on his flawless-shield.

ha, bulky yeah, like in a plump sweatty hotdog kinda way. this new hulk looks like he's got some muscle!
its like the difference between the hard lumpy cheetos and those poofy gay cheetos.

hes always such a pretty boy these days....
does anyone else pine for the older more kirby-ish hulk that was mean 'an ugly:)
this version seems to still have eric bana's head...why? (and hair)
and the character design, for the villain literally gave me narcolepsy, that i'll have to struggle with the rest of my life. i think it made me less imaginative for having seen it
but the cast looks great ...but i cant imagine them saving this.
im gonna sit this one out and wait for the next re-re-re-imagining of the Hulk.

IMO, anything with Tim Roth is worth seeing.
Anything with Edward Norton is worth seeing.
Anything with the Hulk is worth seeing.
Despite how the movie itself´s gonna turn out to be.

but yeah...the hulk just isn't cut out for film.
some comics just don't translate well.

You know, I'd like to have seen the Hulk done more like a monster/disaster movie almost like Godzilla. Having him tear up a city as a unstoppable engine of destruction for a third of the movie, then finally having Banner able to exert a little more control on the Hulk and able to combat something even worse for the last third. There's so many versions of the Hulk in the comics it's hard to zero in on "THIS is the Hulk," but in many versions he's a mostly out of control character that generally tries to do the right thing within his simplified ability to understand things. Like a rampaging cranky 5 year old that is pretty much unstoppable.

i agree with dweller, it's true, because especially from marvel, whom recycle their stories so often in many different ways, DC also does that too, it's what keeps them selling. So this movie will be a different version of the hulk compared to ang lee's.
but it's just weird with ed norton...still curious.

Looks like it has the same plot as the first one. And why is it neccessary to reexplain how he got his power?

March 29th, 2008, 06:42 PM
why is he fighting the villain from the 80s swamp-thing movie?
i wish they had an award for bad creature design...
i sincerely hope this film does poorly enough to prevent it's repetition
so people have to go back to coming up with cool ideas again.
i mean this is what all the hype is over? bare in mind im a big Hulk fan ...but c'maaaaan
its an interesting genetic anomaly that DR banner gets a mullet as a result of his mutation... somehow that is plausible

what I never got about the hulk and this ruined the whole premise for me is how the hell do his pants stay on when he changes.... not that I want to want to see the hulk naked but.... logically his shirt is ripped off and yet only below the knees rip, he would realistically at least end up with a hell of a wedgie...maybe that is why he is so angry

He does transform naked in the first movie, after he realizes he's naked, he wears large spandex shorts under his clothes.

I have to agree. I was expecting it to be good, but was I pleasantly surprised. It was right behind Iron Man and X2 for my favorite Marvel movies. Well done for reviving a thought to be dead movie franchise.

Tim Roth's character was shallow. I wish they wouldn't talk during epic duels.

I realy wish I L M had worked on this. Although I felt the movie did improve on some aspects of what ang lee invisioned in his atempt at a hulk movie, this version was litered with badly animated unconvincing mediocre CG imagery.
There were so many shots that just left me wondering why the art directors and affects directors would even choose to depict such a scene if they couldnt pull it off properly...? Once I got over the fact that I was watching a CG game model quivalent hulk version i started to appreciate the action scenes for all thier distruction and explosive quality. aside from the cheesy dialogue and run of the mill plot pitch it was an ok movie.

IMO I thought the movie was bloody fantastic, beating a lot of shit coming out of hollywood these days. By far one of the most adrenalin pumping scenes at the end that ive seen in a while. The only thing that confused me was how people can say the CGI was shitty, words fail me.
