I like the second one, esp. the modelling around the mouth with the fat, wrinkles etc.
You can fiddle with Curves in PS if you want to experiment with getting darker values (curves tend to saturate the pic a bit aswell). Color balance can be used to add a tad yellow to make the colores more ambient. Saturation and Replace/Selective colors are also neat too sometimes.
Use the color adjustment tools with caution though (Save before). Admittedly I ofted get I bit too excited with the curving and stuff. Sometimes the first version is better, sometimes I put the new version over the old with opacity to get the 'best of both worlds'.

they look good to me.. i especially dig the face on the second one. ...the values and use of light is very nice. the character designs are cool as well.. .maybe you are sick of your work because your style has been fairly consistent for so long (or as long as i have been looking at your work). you could always try a different approach or a different medium.. . that normally helps me out.

WOW! that's pretty amazing for just a "boring, muddy, and void of value" piece of art!! don't be so down on your talent man! you're one hell of an artist! ;)

Quit being such a moper man, your art is fantastic as usual.
If you cant learn to appreciate your own skill then your talent is a waste.
Perhaps you feel negative about it because your work is stagnating, but then perhaps its stagnating because youre negative about it.
Just a though, keep up the good work. (cause it is good work)

chaos is right; i vividly recall coming to figure drawing class with an assigned self portrait that i felt was rather lacking, so when it was my turn to present i voiced my low opinion of the drawing before receiving comments/critiques.
after i sat down a friend touched my shoulder and said, "don't ever put down your work in front of others; they don't need any help pointing out the flaws."
the point being is that the first advocate of your art should be you, not your fanboys. it's one thing to say that a piece didn't turn out quite as you intended, but to actively denigrate the quality of your work when there are many artists around you that would love to have your talents is shameful. and to that end, you have a wonderfully light touch on your linework and good color and value sensibilities as well. if a piece doesn't go, figure out what you want to/should change or just move on.
i will be looking for more of your work on these forums, though. :)

Yea, I donno how you're so moppy when your imagination is full of so many hot chicks!
send one over my way some time :chug:
Edit:
I have a hard time with color as well.. throw in some different colors fo shadow and highlight, not just white and black.

ahhh why you put yourself down? These are sweet! The one looks not just unhappy, but hiding the fact that she's really pissed.

Happy or not…. You can “feel” the emotion of the character and
that is achievement in itself and separates her from “emotionless” bunch
of “paper cut 2d” characters.
In my book that is a level up, especially if it is in combination with kick ass art.
Bravo!!!

Absolutely beautiful... it's nice to see someone render the female body without gravity defying torpedo tits. I love your work, man.

That's what you get, man. Seeing your work after that statement actually pissed me off. It's kind of like someone like Bill Gates complaining that he doesnt have enough money, in my opinion. So, now you just have to take your lumps and lighten up on yourself.
Excellent work...I love the second one.

Well I think Landmate's right and these really suck. Jesus LM, really, make some effort. We're all sick of your art on this forum, exspecially me!!!!
:evilbat:
HAHAHA Whoa there!!! JUST KIDDING DUDE. I really like these and I've never seen one of your sketchy sketches before but really like how delicate it is. I personally am a fan of light palletes with earthy tones, but if you're feeling stuck or bored, why not experiment by coloring a piece with really dark ground first, so that you have to pull out of the dark instead of starting from light to dark? Similiar to traditional realism painting where artists start on a dark ground and model the subjects with progressivley lighter and lighter washes/glazes/layers? It might turn out real interesting..
Another idea is to use colors you hardly ever use, like bright purple or deep dark red or something?
Anyway the second one is full of life, so I don't know what you're complaining about. Whatsup with some backgrounds?

guass: your probably right. I could get into a big argument discussing this but I'll leave it as is.
sammy: I will make an effort, I am timid with color and value. For some reason I dont like cool colors much. So im tying my own hands I guess.
van: hah, riiight... sorry If I upset you.
kress: thanks man, I've tried dark but it has slowly moved back to starting at mid.. Next few I will try starting with the real dark keys. As far as colors, I tend to stick with a small group of them, its not a matter of expirimenting I dont think, its just a matter of me not liking them .. heh, im a picky bastard. I guess that is disableing me.
Ale: thank you! making outfits and hair are a large percentage of the reason I attempt to draw. Its very enjoyable.
thanks to everyone else,
i get more response in crappy 1 hour sketches then in my long drawn out serious things..... hmm :(

That's really neat LM! I like the bouncy yellow on her face. The bent arm and weapon could perhaps be pushed a bit further with rendering.
Her arm(s) seems a bit too long, or it's just me prefering short arms (and large heads). Hands might be a tad large tool.

Good looking piece with some really rich textures. My only thought is that it appears there are two light sources on that latest one. Her torso seems to be getting light from the right side, and her face/legs seem to be getting light from the left.
Other than that, I really like the painterly style. Very rich.

man - i want to marry your style of shading(painting)... and your style of drawing...
-'however'.. dont you think she stands there a lil akwardly?
maybe you intended it but she looks like she's no clue
why shes standing there... not the look of a defender of ... eh... nevermind.

Great costume design man. I always really dig that.
You should try designing costumes for different classes/professions within your "universe".
Maybe do a princess'/noble's outfit, artisan, fighter etc. Id love to see what youd come up with.
keep posting =) im lovin it
