Hubby & I will be in Frisco next month (my birthday present!). However, it will be during the week, Mon-Fri, & not on the weekend, so we'll miss the numerous local art fairs you can find all over the city on the weekends. We (or should I say I) loved these fairs, & we'd come home with 2 or 3 pieces of art made by locals.

So, where can we go during the week to find art by Frisco artists? I'm talking about art for hanging on the wall, not art like sculpture, weaving, woodwork, etc. Any shops or galleries have local art?

Recommendations welcome!

And - thanks!

P.S. We're staying at a hotel on Powell in Union Square & won't have a car - a conscious choice to use our feet, buses, ferries (Tiburon), & cable cars.

check www.craigslist.org in the sf section- theres always tons of stuff listed.
www.tribe.net, a social networking site based in the bay area has tons of stuff of interest too, tho you may have to sign up for a free account.

or, read the bay guardian, the local alternative free newspaper found all over the city.

if youre here on a saturday, drop by the CA atelier for open drawing sessions from 11-2. live models and cool CA peeps, its fun.
check the northern california thread (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=21939) for more info...

have a great trip!

If you're there during "1st Thursday" (Apr 3rd) several Union Sq. galleries are open late for walk-thrus, like Hackett/Freedman and Anglim.

This site (http://www.artinfo.com/galleryguide/search/california-san-francisco/?city=39431) has a good list of galleries you could visit.

Here (http://http://www.artbusiness.com/openings.html)you can preview some openings.

OK, reservations made (finally!) We'll be there April 28-May 2 (Mon-Fri). I finally checked out the suggestions you guys made - and they're great! - thanks so much.

Have either of you been to Jeremys (clothes store)? I read a couple of good reviews on it. It sounded interesting.
