just the quick sketch for the pose and the overall proportion
http://people.freenet.de/freak-ee/no-1.gif
started to get the basic shapes right and laying down the basic muscle structure. when I´ve finished that step, i am going to refine the overall look, adding details etc...

changed the legs a bit... defined the muscles some more, and took care of some anatomy issues.
Also added a head... wanted to give it some kind of creepy felling- hops you like it so far!
any hints tips os ideas are very welcome!

He is sure looking monstrous, good job! For some reason, I'm imagining blood dripping from his mouth, previously belonging to a victim..:evilbat:
Just one suggestion: the way his legs are placed, I'm afraid he would just topple forward. I mean, if his legs were placed more forward, they would support his body weight more... Sorry, I don't think I'm making sense, maybe someone else who has the same crit could explain it better :)
anyway, can't wait till you add colors. O and don't leave the background for last, develop it along with the creature!!

Yeah! you´re right about those legs... i wanted to give him some grasshopper like legs, indicating that he could leap great distances at his victims. But i somehow forgot, that grasshoppers have more than two legs! :D
anyways... i think i have two options. I could put his legs some more into the front, or i could give him two smaller legs, to support his bodyweight and give him a some more balanced stance... what do you think would suit the overall appeal better?!
I allready have an idea about a background, and a colorscheme... but i am not too good at coloring! I imagine him to be in some kind of ruin... some old cathedral, and he´s looking up to some light coming through the broken rooftop, because he heard something outside...
You are right about the victim... he could have his prey laying in front of him.
thanks for you comment

I'd say go for the extra pair of legs option.. And I like your idea for a background!

the extra legs are in place... i know they are not on the floor, but that freak has just moved, therefore his legs are on the ground no more!
hmmm... i got the inspiration for those legs from Brasshorsekiller. I hope he don´t mind! Brass... if you read this...sorry dude!!! :D
anyways, i am going to refine the drawing some more, and put some color in there soon. I hope it turns out okay, since i am not really into colors.

i think the basic layout and linework is finished...
i´ll have to add color and background now. But as a concept i call it done. But i´ll keep working on that!
thanks again for your comments! they keep me working on that stuff... feels good!

corrected some anatomy issues, and added some extra texture, hope it worked! It´s good to get away from a picture, so you can come back later and see it with fresh eyes.

@ Jack: Yeah! i do have a tablet, and I use it all the time.
I think it is one of the few things i spent my money on, that is actually worth it! I had some problems in the beginning, because it doesn´t quite feel as if you´re drawing with a pencil. But the more i do, the better i get...

I thgink its blending into the background to muchj -- suggest you change background colour to one more outside the creature's palette or a lighter version of a creature colour.

I saw the finished before the wip! I thought it was cool then and I do now. The pose is dynamic and the creature's anatomy is well thought out, based on other animal anatomy. I'm digging the colours and the brushstrokes. This was really well done and shows well your process.
