GO TO THE END FOR UPDATES!!
(But ofc I command you to look through everything, then tell me if I've made any progress!)

Well this'll be my new sketchbook, one that'll hopefully be a bit more serious then the previous one!
19 years old(now), sweden, likes extreme-skiing, drawing and ze ladies! (or actually just one lady, but hey!) This is my sketchbook for world domination sooo...

Enjoy!

Okay good. Now do some(read hundred) of your own. Then do more studies.
Hard and diligent work is the key. Think about what you're doing. Keep reading those books. Think think think. I know I need to. Draw while you're at it.

Cheers and good luck,

Frans

Enjoy!

Tired as hell, but a bit less "shaky" so the quality ended up with a nice result :)
Here's a batch that came from my own imagination and there's actually a story.

1. What should I draw?
2. Hmm, scratchy scratchy
3. Maybe I should go for singing instead!
4. Nah, what the hell!
5.Flexing
6. Praising the flex.
7. Running away (or flying ;))
8. MOM! look!
9. Got you cat-bastard
10. Ooooh, I'm a great artist blaa blaa!
11. Where did the cat go?
12. Not, 'nough... sleep.. must.. go... bed

Enjoy! :)

Just taking my time m8!
Don't feel ready for it yet so I'm just gonna go through some pages in the loomis book first, it'll get alot more advanced soon ;)

Best wishes,
abee

Ps. If you wanna look at some of my older (though a bit more advanced, hence they're digital.) pictures, pay a visit to my old sketchbook ;)

Right, I've been a bit afk on the updating part, thing is that our schoolproject ate up my time and when I was finally getting my hands free.. I went on a skiing trip! So I'll try to update more often!

Lotet: Hehe, thanks m8, awaiting some response from my mentor. About to start some bridgeman studies and I need some guidance! Thanks for the visit anyways! :)

The storytelling figure drawing was a spectacular idea. What a great way to practice figure drawing without getting bored with it. I'm gonna have to do that too once I start figure drawing!

Keep the ideas rolling. Your bridgeman figures are turning out well!

Great reference and figure work. Reminds me that I need to do more of the same. I would love to see more of the figure fleshed out like in you last post, and lifedrawing from live models and not just reference....but most of all...keep it up!!

Ok, we're currently moving to a new house, been a bit hectic. Managed to scramble some time together this night, gotto update this!!

'Neways.. Really trying to draw as much as I can from memory instead of reference, trying to understand what I'm doing instead of just "dumb-copying."

Here you go!

Update-time!
This time I'm rather proud of myself as I hardly looked at the pictures for details, for the right side I used some reference tho'. On the other hand, the left side was done from my imagination, just copied the poses with a light stick-figure to remember what the posé was.
'Neeways!

Enjoy!

Here's a cheer for everyone that's been afd like me!
To all of you who hasn't, you'd better keep away from improving!!

I got a tip from robert saying "hey, spend a week on every set of body-parts, trunk, legs, arms, hands, feet, face" So that's what I did! Here's the batch full of torsos.. yeah.. I'm sick of them now :O

Enjoy!

fantastic studies! keep up the loomis and the bridgeman and you'll be getting some great results.

this is just a thought, you may be doing this I'm not sure: When doing copies from bridgeman or loomis, or anything else, your state of mind is very important. Don't just copy the images for the sake of reproducing it, try and analyse and understand what's going on. Try and draw it the way he drew it. What I mean is that the process of the drawing is more important that the end result. You want to suck as much knowledge and understanding as you can out of each little drawing you copy.

you may be doing this already , but just thought I'd say it anyway !

Keep it up! fantastic work so far

Oh my, to see the contrast from your Loomis days to the flesh and tones of your studies now is really inspiring. Makes me want to keep drawing and improving, thanks.

I'm lazy! And stuff has been hectic!
Moving back and forth to england, trying to move to another town in sweden. And now I'm apparently going to Austria in order to get a WHOLE season of hardcore skiing :) (OFC I'll keep drawing while I'm there)

But to let you guys know that I'm not dead! Here's an update! Just a few scraps from my sketchbook. (OK It's EVERYTHING from my new sketchbook)
And a quick study on the spine and hip-bone. Basically just a copy of them, trying to understand what's happening under my skin ;)

Soo.. Enjoy my friends!

Best,
abee

Ps. Look at the last ones, I'm kindof happy with the results of those :) (They're put up in order, oldest first, latest at the end.) ds.

Hi Abee, great sketchbook. You have such patience with your drawing.
With the monster that you drew an arrow to saying 'give crits', it looks like his head doesn't belong on his body. The size and positioning makes it seem as though you shrunk down the head to fit over his shoulder. I think a beast as large and bulky as that wouldn't have such a tiny noggin.
You inspire me to do more story figures. Keep it up!

Nice figure studies, I'd still like to see more development inside your outlines though. Maybe do some studies with harsher lighting.

Thanks for the comments!
I had an idea with the creatures head tho', wanted to go with something like a buff serpent, kindof naga in a way. As my snake wouldn't pose for me I abandoned the idea of a snakes head and then I made this... bone/beast-thingie.
BUT! I do see what you mean, the head looks very... gentle and small compared to the buff body.

Thanks for the crits tho! Great to see that someone has found my thread :)

Abee

Back from Austria!
Basically just a dump from my moleskin. Done some drawing the last 4,5 months although I'm a bit disapointed in myself. Didn't do as much as I'd hoped. But ehh.. Only time I had to draw was when I came home after working, skiing, working, drinking.

the last stuff starts to look good , but mostly what i see above is 1st and unsure line , you need to know where your lines are going , because if you are going to do a line drawing , a wrong turn just might confuse the viewer , so be careful with that. So far you are still on the track , but you need to take up some Lomis or Hogarth and draw the shit out of them , learn the shapes , but first of all , the bones , learn all the bones , all their names , if you know their name , you will know what/where they are . And Keep up the life drawing m you cannot go wrong with that , when you don't have a model , use yourself , its easy , just like masturbation! Cheers!

from looking at ur work can tell u have plenty potential. the sketchbook work shows a knack for finding facial expression, and the creativity behind some of the non human characters is cool too. Seems like u know what it takes to get better here, so really no crits at this time. Just keep it going.

Good to see some studies.
Advice is too focus on the important anatomy right now, like either do the whole skeleton or just focus on stuff like loomis nd bridgeman etc
Doing really well though
Keep at it
