I'm having problems with my brand new Graphire 2. I can't seem to get the driver installed properly. This is what I get when I try to open the Wacom Tablet Panel in the Control Panel:

"The Tablet Driver Was Not Found!"

I can't uninstall the driver, not through "Add or Remove Programs" or the device manager.
Someone, please help me.

Check the following forum posts to see what others have suggested (and hasn't worked):

I'm already waiting for a response from Wacom's tech support at their forum, but it's Saturday so no one's probably working. Won't be able to get an answer until monday.

I know this solution sucks, but have you tried restoring your computer to a point before you tried to install your wacom's driver? You could put all of the files that you have created since then on a disk or burn them to CD before you do it. Try the restore point thing only if you are really, really desperate though. Unless you use the maximum amount of memory that you can and have a restore point automatically created every day like I do, you won't be able to find any of your files when you are done.

You have no idea how restore works, do you? If I were to restore my computer to yesterday, it would not delete files that I added today, it simply restores system settings and stuff. But I'll try.

You may think that I do not know how system restore works, but at least I came up with a solution;). Are you sure it doesn't delete files, because I had a similar problem to yours with my network card. Doing system restore not only uninstalled the driver for me, it also erased 2 unrelated files and uninstalled a game that I had just put in. It just shows you that PCs (esp. ones that have Windows XP) are not perfect and do not always work the way they were supposed to.

Post how it comes out for you. I would be interested to know if any of your files were deleted. Hope this works!

I had this same problem on my XP machine. The tech support person told me to trasht the "wacom.DAT" file. Do a search for that file, delete it and restart. That worked for me. It the prefs were just corrupted.

Also do this:

control panel/administrative tools/services/tablet service -double click tablet services and go to "properties". make sure you have the following selected:

Tab -general
Startup type -automatic
Service status if stopped (check) "start"

----anyway, the first one did it for me...try it out.

The file wacom.dat is not on my computer. I'm guessing my first (and only) driver installation didn't go successfully and didn't install some files.
I do not have Tablet Services in Services.
