View Full Version : Graphical Artist/Designer Needed for Casual PC/Mobile Game (think Bejeweled-like)

I am currently working on a Casual Game in XNA (PC-only for now, until we get Zune support) and I am in need of an artist to design the interface and some gameplay graphics elements. This isn't a work project, as in right now there is no money and I don't expect there to be any in the immediate future, so since I'm getting no money for it, I can't pay anyone else for their contributions. Really I'm doing this as a portfolio piece more than anything else, so it'd be great if that's what you were looking for as well.

The game is a casual game involving a board and stacks of simple pieces (and their interaction, but that gets more into gameplay and less into the art.) It is something that I'd imagine seeing on a mobile device with multiplayer capabilities (such as the Zune or a cell phone) or something integrated into like MSN Messenger (such as the integrated Bejeweled and Minesweeper games.) This is a project that I'd like to complete in the next few months, and 90% of the Gameplay programming is complete. What remains is the Networking code, the Menus/Interfaces, Graphics, and a few other side details.

What I'm looking for is an artist who'd like to work on this casual game for the sheer fun of working on a project with a definite finish line at the end. It'd make a great piece for each of our portfolios, as we'd both have a finalized project that we could say we contributed 100% of our respective field to (I'd obviously contribute to 100% of the code, you'd be 100% of the art/graphics-design.)

Here is a screenshot of the game so far, which shows why I'd like an artist. The one thing that should definitely be different in the final product is instead of a top-down view of the board, it'd be a perspective/isometric view, matching the isometry of the stacks of pieces. All of those details can be discussed after we get to work hammering out the concrete ideas for the graphics design, though.

I'm not looking for any specific style as far as the design goes, so that'd be up to you to decide, and I'm definitely not against hearing any of your ideas for gameplay/design as soon as you have a feel for the game!

Let me know if you'd like to help by replying in this thread with a couple examples of your work or by emailing me at sekkusu@gmail.com . You should also be able to private message me through the forums if you'd rather choose that avenue.

Thanks!
