If I wanted to approach Marvel in the later years, to get a job as a cover designer, how would I do so. I'm only 14 at the moment, so I'm not looking for a job at the moment.

you need to start drawing all the time...when yer pals are out hangin at the mall or something useless like that you should be home or at the library drawing.

draw your friends...your family...your cousins....you name it...draw all the girls in your school if you can....you need to draw as much as you can from life...that is the key. if you draw something from life you will remember how to draw it later on which makes drawing from imagination possible.

learn all the muscles and bones of the human figure....learn exactly where the muscles attatch on the bones...its a lot but it is what you must do.

have fun...draw stuff you want to draw....play....use your imagination. draw from life as much as you draw from your imagination...balance it out...copy stuff from art books...copy the masters...learn from the pros....see how they do stuff and remember it.

learn all your ART HISTORY....know who rembrandt is..know who Gustave Dore is..Study his works as much as you can..know who Arthur Rackham is....Know who Edgar Degas is....these are the artists who can help you most....the artists from the Baroque period.....the renaissance...the 19th century....Jean Leon Gerome...

these artists are the real masters and through their works you can learn to create space...compose beautiful scenes...and see how they tell stories with their images.

another cool thing to do is...get copies of some great DVDs...blade runner...aliens...the matrix....pause the screen and draw...draw...draw....you will learn how to set up "shots" if you do that...you will learn how to place story elements into your frame if you do that....and you get to see some great lighting and such. all the ideas that are used in these films as far as shot composition and lighting comes from the same theories that the masters above used.

keep at it....you can be doing covers by the time you are in your early twenties if you do...maybe sooner...but probably not..unless you work that hard.

good luck

I second what Jason is saying.. But, also look around at some JC's where you are and get a list of the art classes and come back to the boards and ask which ones you should take... I know you are only 14.. but you can still go up to a Junior College and take a class here and there.. Being in a structured enviroment always helps.. Plus you might be able to take a few life drawing classes which will help you tremendously..

Since you are 14 you have a good while to figure out if art is also what you want to continue to do.. and if you really want to do covers for marvel..

So deffinitly draw all the time.. go to the store and buy a few sketch books and fill every page in.. sometimes draw people, sometimes draw animals.. whatever..

Also, the digital age is really nice, and photoshop, painter etc.. are great tools, but learn fundamentals first.. learn how to draw and paint then move onto those.. or work at them at the same time...

good luck

I'm into digital art, and draw whenever I can, and when I can't I make up for it by drawing when I'm not supposed to.

These two are just two drawings I did during school.

and these are some random digital pieces. I don't know about my skill level over others of my age, or much like that. So any tips or anything, would be super.
