Dred&Bass Art+Music Assistant Search

Sweet Games
(Uk based Indie collaboration between a professional Coder & Artist)

Dred & Bass
Premise - “Dred + Bass” is a Side-scrolling high action arcade title that launches the player into an epic saga of survival horror and highly stylised bloody gore.

Overview And Aims
The project has currently been in production since January with concrete pre production finished for the first level of the intended game. Once produced this level will act as the demo for the title. Based on its success, we may decide to go ahead with a further 4-6 levels with intended online distribution (that is If its to good to give away as freeware)

(Note: Both collaborators currently work full time and share a vision that has kept production going since 2007, they do so for free and at this time the game exists wholly as an Indie production. In this respect no money will be offered to anyone who applies to any of the offered roles.)

The genre for the game is intended to be a modern remix of trends from popular urban cultures in the form of a parody horror game. Picture Namco’s Splatter House but with rave music and stylised characters that would sit perfectly on kidrobot.com, and you will start to scratch the surface of our intended title.

The game is Java based and all art assets will be hand drawn, traditionally animated and digitally painted. This is one of the methods undertaken in order to separate our title from the rest but its also allot of work, but we know the final results will be that much sweeter.

Tech
Programming:
Java + OpenGl
2D Art
Photoshop + Image Ready

Talent Needed

Art Assistant: A general assistant to art asset production, painting produced line art and or creating traditionally animated sequences. Outside of this role possible concept and promotional artwork for environments, characters posters would be ideal.

Musts

Portfolio or samples of art relevant to the game’s direction.

Illustrators and or painters must be able to replicate the pre existing concepts and work to design briefs.

Be able to deal with repetitive stress, as you will be working on individual animation frames.

Have access to relevant painting software.

Have a professional manner, be reliable and have a lasting interest in the project.

Plusses

Experience in traditional animation (possible springboard for animation students looking for something to do.)

Experience in games of this genre

Working professionals

UK residents

Music and Sound Effect Composers: Although we don’t have an immediate need for a musician we would love to hear from anyone who has an immediate interest in the project and could possibly accomplish all or some of our music and sound needs. These include…

Level music, presentational and scenario music, progressive tunes that can be easily edited and moulded to match the on screen action.

Sound effects of the highest possible clarity, fanfares and peculiar demands from the team.

The genre’s of music we are interested in replicating are slightly odd but we hope they at the very least provide some insight into the pace and tempo we are hoping to implement. Regardless of the following examples we have high regards to composers who appreciate nostalgia of the 16-bit era, but also composers who can bring these ideas 20 years into the future with distortion and unique mixes.
