My Work In Progress. The angle and perspective are giving me a few headaches (especially with the arrows), but I'm very happy with the bridge itself so far.

I had originally put a third demon in the upper right corner in the extreme foreground, but I felt it crowded the whole image.

Liquid Penguin: Amazing color scheme. You definitely have an eye for color. I imagine you're going to balance the rest of the scene with colder colors to bring out the bright warmth of the character?

Sideburns: Very interesting concept, looking forward to the finished piece because the idea is quite good. Good dynamic pose for the jumper, though I would say that his platform might need to be tilted a bit towards the viewer (because of the force involved pushing off to jump)

Cupidsart: I really enjoy that painting style. You've got a good sense of the "three-dimensionality" with the shading, especially the dragon. Good choice in warming up your colors between your first and second WiP.

yAdam: Fantastic. Your use of light and shadow is exceptional, I'm very jealous of your skill.

Justin Oaksford: Great lines. I like the feel of this style, it's got a nice graphic-novel vibe to it. The only comment I can make is that the overall angle of the shot is "playing-it-safe" (looking more-or-less straight ahead), not that it's a bad thing, it just doesn't push the perspective envelope. A very nice touch with the sun hitting the mountain-top.

Piecemaker, I really did the bridge area and the concept of the floating enemies. I'm glad you got to refine that more. All those arches draw me into the picture.

tobba pretty nice shading so far but don't get caught up in the details so early. The picture itself feels cramped. I like whats going on the background with the bridge and the other duel. The action in the foreground is really boring right now, and I think it has to do with your characters.

Vigilandus,
One thing that might help is switching to B&W and looking at your values alone and consider the focus areas in your painting. With the big wall and other things going on my eye doesn't know where to focus.
Try to have one major focal point and then secondary ones.
If you have lots of values and detail competing for focus it can confuse the viewer.
Could help.

doesn't joust mean"join". I'd be curious as to what is joined, the horse/rider or the combatants? Could a naval battle between to similar warships be considered a joust? Nothing in the etymology seems to indicate either way. Only that at the time of usage, they used horses as conveyance. So, I replace horse with large flying warships. :)

Here is an update (small update) been trying to juggle and multitask a shit load of other stuff and now today is easter which means (easter dinner and family coming over in less than an hour and I won't get much time to work on it today......so I haven't a chance in hell of finishing) I'll finish the piece no matter what though. I updated the sketch design of the rider, but I haven't even touched him or the creature yet and the foreground/background still needs lots of loving. The bridge still needs decals, some little statues and structuring/texturing/lighting..
