secrets out..
"Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. FFVII Advent Children won't appear on the PS2 but on DVD and the game takes the story of Cloud two years after the events of Final Fantasy VII. No news have been revealed on this special DVD except for a 2004 release but be sure to have all the information as the TGS launches tomorrow"

FF7 is my favorite game(I have about 300hrs in this game) and I wouldn't mind the sequal, but I don't really like what they've done Cloud looks stupid to me. I was hoping they would do something that would really push it to look awesome it looks just a picture from FFX he looks like Tidus but even more lame. but since this really isnt much to go on, so hopefully it will surprise me and be amazing.

yeah I know I'm stupid. Though thats a couple times beating it and trying to get everything like level 99 for everybody and during the summer. You should see me play GTA3 vice city I already have 100% and doing it with no cheats now I just drive around and shot people for hours. You could say I like to get as much replay value as I can. No sense dropping 50$ and playing a game for a couple hour then thats it.
and I know Jason would come in here now and say something like "you should use that time for painting" and I know I don't do that anymore just with Vice City just a little every now and then.

well like I said that was the past I don't play like that anymore. That was like when I was in high school. Now I mainly waste my time here or drawing. I totally agree with what you said. I realized a couple years ago the amount of time that I spent playing the games and not making myself better so I could make the games myself. I wont be regretting it or anything cause that just a more waste of time than playing the games.
and now Mad! now works in games doing concept art for Exarch I got my thread in links section with some pics and some Street Fighter stuff he did.

I've been obsessing over ff tactics for gameboy...which i dont have..
been debating on whether to spend 150$ too waste time happily or
use that time and money for something a little more gainfull.....ie. DRAWING! getting a better job. workin out(yeah right) etc.... not to mention im about to buy a new car and be in some big time debt....
and sadly those super lame comercials for the game totally do the trick for me..

Its not worth it, trust me. Stick with the orginal. The new one is way too easy and shallow, and has no plot worth speakign of.

;)
different strokes for different folks .. I do however wish there were more turnbased snowball fights..

I know many people who were in love with FF7, but I never got into it because of the way you fight. Then I got caught up in Blizzard games and now I draw. FF7 has some pretty cool art in it though, seems to be a pretty inspiring game for a lot of people I played video games with. heh

FF 1,3,7 were all groundbreaking..
I remeber spending my free time drawing from that moster list that came with the original on my dads amiga.....i still play "orgins" from time to time on my pc @work
i tried ffta on a emulator to see if it was any good....the cheasy opening sequence quickly made me realize how dam old i am, so i felt guilty wasting time and went back to modeling in max for the rest of the night..

You have GOT to be joking. The only thing true about what you said was the poor translation. In FFT, the job system was MUCH more deep. The battles were more challenging. As for pacing, Something happened almost every time you went somehwere, unlike FFTA, which ive played for 20 hours so far, and barley anything has happened. I also have yet to have a hard time with a battle.
Sorry if i overeacted a bit, but i really liked that game. :D
I agree about the combat in FF7 being poor, but it is in all the normal Final Fantasys. The reason i played them was for the story and the minigames. That is where FF7 excelled. All the recent ones from 9 and on have disappointed me greatly. The pacing is waay too slow and there are practicly no mini-games to speak of (except blitzball :p). I inclue Chrono Cross in there too. I gave up on it half way and got the game script of the internet to read.

Pencil Soldier - FFT and FFTA are both excelent games, I can see why anyone would favor one over the other.
I liked the pacing in FFTA better in that they give you the option of so many side missions to level up your clan.. this seems easyer but it paves the way for the more challenging story missions... I played all the side missions first so the story did start out slow.. but now I have a story mission every time.
The story in the origional, with the "false deciples", I thought was a bit overused... as in most every RPG's that's released (if I wanna hear uneducated complaints on an opressive religion I'll go to a coffee shop for as long as I can take.. not spend 40 hours with it poorly translated)
Just 'cause the new one involves children deosn't make the story childish, I found it very sobering when *spoilers* Myute's mom was resurected in his world and by taking out the totema you inadvertantly kill your freinds mother.
Personaly I thought they delivered on all those childhood fantasies that I always wanted (bringing a fantasy world to life) and all the conflicts that it would deliver.
either way they're both geniuse games and I don't think there should be many complaints made on them (considering the state of 90% of games today) :chug:
