I'm going with option B... it's been done 100 times, but I can't thing of a cool and intimidating way to do amberdust off the top of my head right now heh.
and here's a real quick character sketch if you need it.

Sounds good to me. Number 101 coming up then... :) And I forgot, I'll be using the same character I've used the last three times.

Quick WIP. Still working out the details, but this'll be a fairly simple move. Wanted to get the form down at least. Good start, BTW. "Ouch". :)

For some reason I put the wrong move in bold. Supposed to be "B".
Hope the face pleases. Saved it for last. :)

Gosh, you are so skilled at rendering Corrick, I really love that feel of the materials. And nice work again on the art crusades pic, that pic was fantastic! Anyways, I gotta say the face is still unsatisfactory? I know you prolly hate to hear it, and I'll bet you spent extra time workin' on it, but it's still a little strange. Much better than last time, but it's still mm...I'm really not sure, since I'm sure you're a better artist than me right now, mmm...like, I've recently noticed the nose dips down just before the line between the eyebrows, and you have the highlight goin' all the way up, so it gives her nose a strange look...I'd also say the eyebrows are a little thick, and strangely arched? Mmm, and the her right cheeck may be a little bulbous, like, if she were yelling all those muscles would be taught, plus the old thing about straight lines on the face giving more of a feel of tension than rounded lines? Next to last, the eyes kinda scare the hell outta me, bein' all black like that. Mmm, and last but not least, I think maybe her hairline comes down to low? Well, I hope I don't sound like a jerk, and you probably already know all this stuff, but I'm just tryin' to help! Gimme a crit sometime too if ya happen on one of my posts, I'm in a real slump right now...oh, and one more thing I noticed, you could definitely make it look more like his char in the shadow if you add that uhm, like, pony tail on top of his head? Alright! I'll shut up!

Yep, right on all counts. I'm still adjusting it, and this is good feedback. Man I hate faces.
Any more crits would be appreciated... keep 'em comin'...

Dammn man why ?!! why ?! didn't you wanted a kiss :P hehehe... (I've got to finish my pic for my duel, but whatever I must do the critics) :) well, well, well I really think that your WIP was very good, I don't know why you changed the face, and whhyyy her eyes are always blackk ?! Her left hand and the sword were better on your WIP ! There's a little light problem I think. But of course I did all that critics but I love your work ! :D Try to do more faces even if you hate them :D, I want to be able to say "I hate this man, he's a killer" :D hehehe...

It'll get fixed, it's got problems, I know. Just haven't had time yet. And the head changed because, well, it changed. :)
I'm always up for kissin', but only by wimmin. Not barbarians. No offence.
Damn she's got a small forehead. And a small nose. I'll get it.

One question though, shouldn't the end of his sword be coming out of her other side?

Haha hey corrick no problem I didn't wanted to kiss you :D I love wimmin to :D
Weellllll and B-Nine very very nice jobbb :) I think that if corrick don't try to do it better, you'll take his head :D

Returned with the new and improved. All I have time for I'm afraid, like I said, simple moves. B-Nine, just let me know if you're done and I'll alert the judges.
Thanks to everyone who critiqued. It helps, if only to kick my facial apathy. I'm starting to really like these challenges. :)

yeah, I'm done with it as far as the challenge goes. I may tweak a few things here and there later on if I decided I want to stash it in my portfolio.
Quick question, do you think a blade poking through the other side makes it better? I assumed it was a dagger so it wouldn't penetrate that deep, but if it makes the image better I'm all for it heh.

btw, great re-vision on her face and I really dig the additions of the flowey cloth stuff :)

well The reason Corrick thought there should be part of the blade sticking out is because it doesn't look like a dagger. Look at the size of that handle! the blade should be huge (well at least longer....) anyways great work both of you guys and remind me not to challenge you for a while :P
Corrick
March 1st, 2008, 01:48 PM
Yeah, it was the handle that threw me. The tang of the blade is longer than the actual blade itself. :) Not that it does anything to detract from the image, the whole thing is pretty damn cool.

Niiiice. For both of you. Corrick, you've gotta teach me how to paint metal. That chain mail is a fantastic detail. And in your defense, it's hard to make a woman with that facial expression really attractive :P
B-nine, great colors. Especially how you handled the shadows, and I was surprised when I scrolled over and saw the addition of him walking away. Awesome sense of motion in yours.
Sweet work guys. :)

thought I'd update this with the tweaks I did so I can stash it in the portfolio. Changed some of the design of Corrick's character because alot of the angles on those shapes are awkward and difficult to make look cool heh.

They are not. Nice update.

Yeah, for real Corrick, what's the secret to makin' metal look so thick and dull? (in a good way)

Ok, ok... I meant for me to make look cool haha. The angles were difficult for me so I changed some things up a bit better to my liking in the revision...

holy shit Im not quilified to judge this
1 corrick I love watching corrick improve on a weekly basis
each of these battles he does better than the last
2 b-nine basically because of more convincing gestures and more interesting colors
B-nine - because of the final update with the warmer lights around the female character, added greatly to the overall piece. well done.

Fantastic round, B-nine, congrats! Great dynamic image. And there'll be gauntlet-throwing. Oh yes, very much so. You're on! :)
Thanks judges for the kind attention, and thank you Chaos for the comments.
