]Greetings Concept Art Compatriots,
I have been admiring the fine works of art abound on this site for a few months now, and wanted to finally become an active member of the community.
I've been an avid artist for all my life, but only recently started to take it seriously enough to attempt making a living off of it. I am a graphic designer by living, comic artist by education, and sci-fi and fantasy enthusiast by heart.
I'll start my membership here with a sketchbook, and hopefully work my way into the finally finished files and eventually the characters and creatures of the week forums, so...
I'd love some comment, even critique, so please stop by. You might even get some personal commentary from me, from time to time.
Thanks,
-Miticis.

Oh, yeah...
The images above in the previous post, as well as attached to this one are scans from my on-again-off-again sketchbook. Originals in blue pencil, but converted to greyscale here to make them easier on the eyes.
Some rough ideas for role-playing characters, and new comic stories Im working on.

Hmm, I like the ideas you have going here. Any chance you could clean some of them up to get a pseduo-finalized look? Or are you just going for quick sketches?
As far as each character goes, you seem to have a solid grasp on anatomy and gesture.
Keep working on it, I'll be watching. :)

nice start here. i'd suggest doing some more anatomy studies. i like your messy lineart but i would however try working on your line a bit more. using more long flowing lines and weighted line will help to make your pieces stand out more and look a lot less sketchy. keep it up your off to a good start.

Malaki Sinclair: Yeah, Im a bit heavy handed, so I get real sketchy. Im working to lighten up to pull out a bit more detail. I have trouble enough even drawing in a sketchbook. Thanks for the comment!
Lilnebo: Thanks for the props!
thesadpencil: Ive been itching to do a bit more live anatomy, since Ive been outa school, its hard to find co-ops in my area, but thats a good idea. Thanks for stopping by.
Yeah, its a really dead day at the office, so here's another sketch.

Very nice sketchbook. I really like the concepts and sketchy style. I agree with Malakai, you obviously have a solid understanding of anatomy and linework. Can't wait to see more. ^_^

Exquisite Beast: Thank you for stopping by.
Huntsman97: Thanks for the props, glad you like the concepts.
Starzik: Thank you for the kind words, yeah, form and anatomy is something Ive been working on for a while, but I still need to work on it a bit more ;-)
Clodioz: Thanks for the welcoming! Yeah, that Marcus sketch has always weirded me out, but I can learn lots from it still.
So here are a few color pieces from me.
The first 2 are finished from before my first computer crashed, the last is a work in progress for a character design Im working on for a role-playing game Im in, yeah, total geek.

Nice concepts, and very rich composition in your sketches!
Maybe some of them need some cleaning, but it's very nice work!

I decided to post another work in progress.
Im planning on making two illustrations based on a fairly standard theme, one with male heroic / female submissive, and the other opposite.
Wanted to get back in touch with some of my fantasy roots( Frank Frazetta, Boris Vallejo) we'll see how it turns out.

I've been lurking for a few months myself so hi from one ex-lurker to another! Nice sketches here! Makes me ashamed that I've yet to make my own sketchbook.

Im hatching some ideas for a new story, here is a sketch for an environment that might be found in it.
Its a cross between a Druidic hideaway and Tibetin monestary on another planet.

So it grows...
More sketches including pages from the sketchbook, some work for the CHoW, and a personal project or two.
Ironically, my take on Amaturasu was for an unrelated project, then I learned it was a past Character of the Week, and I almost spazed out.
There is even a charicature of my pet Tortoise, Winston, in there somewhere.
Enjoy, and I invite you to comment.

I really like your vehicle and creature designs.
Especially the turtle dragon on post 16, he looks like he is begging to be modeled...

I wanted to take the opportunity to thank some of you for stopping by, I apologize if I missed anybody.
Maridius: Thanks for the props. I'd decided to just put the process out there, see if I couldn't get any feedback. I was pensive at first, but it can't hurt to let others see what we do as long as we take it in context.
Clochette: Thank you for that, composition and concepting are my favorite parts of creating, but I still need work. In your sketchbook I like your figures and the way you aren't affraid to work in different mediums. It inspires.
Arrowhead: Thank you. The dragon turtle is actually a fusion of my two pets, Winston the tortoise, and Viktor the boa constirctor, with a bit of a fantasy twist. Go ahead and model it if you'd like, I'd love to see it.
Tiago: Thanks! I liked the start you have in your sketchbook. Keep on truckin'.
Tea Drinker: Thanks for the props. Id love to draw some life studies. Haven't had the access to live models since I graduated college. I gotta find a good co-op or something. I like your guesture style, and your color. Thats something I need to work on.
Coldrum: Thank you much. Im working on bolstering my portfolio, and I do need to work up some finished pieces. Ive been an admirer of yours since Ive started lurking. Your observation sketches, inspireing. Thanks.
Thanks to all for dropping by my fledgling sketchbook, more to come, I promise.

Nice line work and character design, I assume it attribute to your education of comic art:P. I hate to say that, but the colour is a bit flat to me, which often appears in comics. It just my personal feeling, hope you won't mind. This is suppose to be the style of anyway.
Looking forward to see more:D.

Oh man, been away for too long.
Life always seems to twist and turn, and all we can do is hold on. Sometimes I feel as if I have some input on the way it goes, but most of the time it just seems to cut loose.
Ive been preparing for a wedding in June, and haven't been able to do much beyond my professional design stuff, but enclosed are a couple examples of what I have finished lately.
The first is a character design for a friends' film, the right is the first color and costume take, the left is based off of the critique I got back.
The second drawing is a tatoo design I created for my taekwondo instructor, of a Dragon Carp, a creature from Korean mythology signifying power, dignity, and grace. I'd like to expand on it for another illustration, but I don't know when I'll get the time.
Tec: Thanks Tec. Fluidity and strength are things Im trying to work on more in my drawing style, but I still feel heavy handed, and have lots more to learn.
UnSharpened: Thanks for the kind words and for your reflection on colors. I have spend way more time on line work, perspective, and form than I have on color, and it shows Im afraid. But I will strive to do better.

Until next time,
your friendly naborhood Miticis!
Thanks for dropping by.
