Wow dude, loving all of these portraits!

Your observation about the painting programs is pretty accurate, at least for me too. I always get frustrated after going back to traditional media once I've spent a long time in PS or painter. I've never tried out artrage, gonna have to give it a shot.

Can't wait to see today's two! :D

I knew you were an artrage fan, but I never would'a believed those to be artrage. Myself I'm very fond of effortless confident flowing line work, but I'm struggling with it with pencil and with digital it's nooo way for me.. Now I have to spend the evening with artrage. I have no illusion that it's about the tools btw. That means it's about the expertise of the artist, which is probably not much of a discussion. :)

Something like this I guess...

-howz do I getZ as gooood as U :) :) :)

- draw draw study study :p

- but Im 2 lazy.. :|

really looks 'pencilish' . have you tried sketch book pro? i always hear that is the best for emulated pencils

oh and great stuff :P

You are so right :) In 99% of the cases people approach me and ask: "Please show me some drawing tricks!" , and i'm like "WTF! There are no tricks - just take a pencil and paper, then draw until your fingers start bleeding". Its all about practice and studying /as you said/. A colleague here in the office said, "You know i've seen your works on the net, and i thought those lines and shading are made by a special brush in Photoshop!" - facepalm :) I think that people become so lazy and uneducated, they think that Photoshop is the Holy Grail and answer to all their questions.
Sorry, sometimes im getting too excited discussing this subject :)

I've not too much sxperience on digital, and I have to say that photoshop (I don't know about painter) is a bit of a pain in the ass when you'r trying to emulate traditional media.

ArtRage and Sketchbook pro are really fun to use though.. but I still have a long way to go to get used to artrage features... I can't get quite yet the acrilics feeling...

tried the artrage pencils. Sweet! A ton of difference to photoshop. I've been so buzy with the oils that I completely missed the pencils. I'll definitely do more of that. Thanks for showing! :)

@Quikenobi - Yes PS is a pain, but recent versions have some really nice brushes, which simulate pretty well the traditional look. However AR and Painter still can't be beaten, and i prefer AR :) Btw. yes, sketchbook pro has nice pencil, but it still looks too digital to me - but makes nice lines ;)
@carnalizer - You are most welcome! Glad you liked the AR pencils :)
@Kim_bot - Thank you for the good words!
@S.C.P - Nice to see you here, and thanks!
@Chuck, mate - Thank you so much for the good words, mate, inspiration is both ways :)
@Flaskpost - Thank you!

I've hurt my back these days, so now i'm in the world of pain :(

Hi Borilius, I love your style; it is very different from mine. The soldiers, especially the one from #161 are kickass. It would be cool, when you put more work to some of these and make them coloured. I am not sure weather I read something over, but is drawing/painting your job or hobby?

Thank you guys, this is very nice of you!
@aaro_n: The full ArtRage is a way to go, trust me :) Most of the people are trying the free version, without layers and bunch of nice stuff, and most of the time they give up on it. 25$ is a steal ;)
@Hellfire: Thanks, i'm happy when i'm able to inspire other people somehow. Thats the ultimate award for me :)

Btw. soon i'll be releasing an Artbook, including some of my works, along with the works of other Bulgarian artists - some of them are quite famous on CA. But i'll keep the surprise for the release date ;) Thanks for visiting my SB!

This (http://i398.photobucket.com/albums/pp62/Borilius/Assassin_011.jpg) is probably one the most interesting sketches I have ever seen, and I don't mean by I mean by anyone. Marvelous. Easily one of my favorite threads here.
