Hey all.

I'm going away and the only way I'll be able to update my SB is via digital work (no scanner see). I've got a graphire wacom tablet and ps cs3. I downloaded some brushes and then was confronted with a few issues:

What should my workspace schematics be for a general sketchbook page (i.e. page setup)? I'm looking for one that will transfer nicely and allow me to colour them if I need, as well as print to medium quality. (Sorry - I'm not being specific - I just don't want a huge image or a tiny thumbnail one). I just need a settings run down.

Can anyone suggest any brushes that replicate pens or pencils for use in a digital sketchbook?

If these are easily outsourced questions, can someone point me in the direction of an answer?

Cheers, much obliged.

Bumskee's thread has provided a few answers, but I have a big problem. The icon for the brush is so small I can't actually distinguish it on the monitory with a hernia eyestrain... anyway i can make it larger or change it?

For print quality think actual size at 300 dpi. For medium quality 150dpi works fine. Screen (web) is usually 72dpi. If you want to recreate sketchbook pages go with any of the popular sizes 8.5"x11" or 11x14" etc.

For your brush icon I like mine set to brush size rather than the brush symbol. You might like that because it will shaow the actual size of the brush being used, so it gets as large as you need, and most people find it easier to work with anyways.

size, the bigger the better as always but just an A3 at 300dpi size document will be more than enough.

there's plenty of brushes out there that will feel more like a pencil but it's more the question of getting used to the actually tablet.. but definitely test some out yourself. :)

you can change the thumbnail sizes in option when you right click on a brush mode.

Ohhh thanks for the helpful reply guys. Just one thing - will changing the thumbnail icon change the cursor? It's just that I can't see the cursor without eyestrain on a white back ground (sorry if I didn't make that clear the first time or you answered it just then!).

You can find the option to change the size of the cursor in preferences under Cursors. Edit > Preferences > Cursors.

The thumbnail size option is just for your brush menu if I understand correctly
