View Full Version : DSG 1335: Creature: CENTAUR IS RIDICULOUSLY, VEIN-POPPINGLY, MUSCLED

[ Head to hoof, this thing is rippling. ]

[ I suggest referencing some bodybuilding and equine photomagraphs. ]

[ Any background can be minimal, since the focus is purely on this pumped-up creature of lore. ]

I also hope to make the DSGs something regular.

sone_one: Awesome, I like it! Grat anatomy, great lighting, only the angle could be a bit more dynamic and his facial expression is somewhat blant

Anthis: Sweet, but I see somr serious problems in his (read:his) left arm. the angle is not very accurate there, also the head is a bit boring with the body being all twisted and the face only in profile. Also, the horsebody is not really in focus, he doesn't read as a centaur to me.

Wacky Wackowski Good idea, maybe try some highlighs and shadows on top of him?

muleskinner: Very nice! I like this a lot too! But his facial expression is somewhat relaxed for the pose. Maybe strain the face-muscles a bit more.

doodlebug: Stylish!

Jack Frost: my favourite so far :)

johnn: wow his dude looks overpowered...

pandahund: Interesting, like the body-builder-pose. Hoever, his chest is very flat judging from the casted shadow. Also, his legs are pretty short.

My humble speed-effort:

Sone_one: inspired me, as you can see:).
Anthis: good movement, watch the anatomy.
Wacky: the legs look strange but the needle gives it something extra.
Muleskinner: i like the horsepart a lot, i think it looks better when you put the head more to the front.
Doodlebug: nice storytelling, i like the orks. The horses belly should be thicker and his chest wider i think.
Jack Frost: very nice and funny.
Johnn: this is funny too, maybe work out some more on the face.
Pandahunt: good start, the midsection of the horse makes it look unhorse-like, i think its also the belly thats missing.
Faust: good movement, cant reed the legs though.

Got to love the DSG!

On another note I started a web page were I am giving away brush I made for digital painting in photoshop with a wacom. You know I made them and they are sitting their so why not give them away? Sort of like you mom said - if your not playing with it let some one else - any who the site is http://orbitalrice.com and I painted the above image with the "skin" brush set! ~enjoy and keep creating!

now i play egoist and use the dsg for trying out new things such as filters and stuff and dont even give a **** how it looks : P

i accidently found the brush whatever filter in PS, gives the basesketch a nice weird look which actually can look really cool when you draw over it and let the texture play with your imagination - at least i think so. will try this at another dsg

Just a pencil sketch this time around:

Funny because it's so true. People who spend all their time exercising upper body end up looking hideously disproportioned.

I think people here failed to realize, or maybe just werent educated in the sense that Centaurs are females? =)

William b. Hand

Twitch - Actually... Wikipedia gives the following description: "Centaurs (from Ancient Greek: Κένταυροι - Kéntauroi) are a race of creatures composed of part human and part horse." So, they are not sex specific. Although, curiously, definitions elsewhere of the word tends to describe a man as the human part of the creature, so I have no idea where you got your erroneous notion that these are female.

I'm late again. it's my first time I seriously tried to draw a horse, so I did some horse studies before :) DSGs are highly useful for me :)

Although admittedly, females centaurs are absent from this thread.

well, of course, a ridiculously muscled female centaur isn't a beautiful, artistic being for the majority of us, I guess... and many of the male ones in this thread are not really _ridiculously_ muscled, but good-lookingly muscular :)

I think the reason we don't have a lot of female centaur here is... it's generally easier to make vein-poppingly muscular men to look good than women.

Sone_One: Cool silhouette and I like the proportions between the man and horse parts

Jack Frost: Laughed out loud. Great!

Mortal.Red: What does it say about me if I feel like I'm seeing something erotic happening here?

IntricateChaos: Like the horse parts--like the man parts, the pose works--the transition reads as more cancerous than muscular to me--was that a design decision?

Here's my entry. Not too clever I think but, you know, practice and all.

Cheers,
Ian
