For all of you that may be interested in astronomy, there is going to be a total lunar eclipse tonight visible throughout much of the Western Hemisphere. Apparently, there will not be another total eclipse again until 2010, so get out there and watch the show. Here is an article from USA today (http://www.usatoday.com/tech/science/space/2008-02-19-lunar-eclipse_N.htm) with more info.

*sigh* It's cloudy here. Saw the last one, though.....

It's already started here on the east coast. A chunk off the left side is dark. That's so cool.

Looks like it's too cloudy here, too, to see much. :(

It's a bit cloudy here as well, but the clouds are moving at a good pace, so it hasn't been a problem so far.

Last total eclipse of the sun it was too cloudy and too far north here to get the full effect: it just got a bit gloomy and quiet.....

The moon is well into the umbra, here. It's an eerie rusty orange color.

Thanks for the photos, Clodioz!

amazing photos.

I left my camera back in Regina (working out in Saskatoon) but I still drove out of the city to get a better look at it. Amazing stuff.

thanks for the pics everyone :)

I went out at a -24C (-11F) in pyjamas to see it a few times. Unfortunately, the moon grew tiny compared from 7:00pm but the sky was clear. I feel like a kid when watching these :)

Clodioz: is this how you actually saw the shadow creep over the moon or are your pictures fliped? I watched it creep from the bottom left like Wooly ESS. Oh hemisphere fun is just making my head spin :)

I saw the shadow covered the moon from bottom-right to top-left... exactly as the pictures..

Nice shots!

Over here in New Zealand, we've recently had a partial solar eclipse, which I moranically missed. :(

You guys are a curious lot... here is a composed image of sonar eclipse taking from the side of moon by Apollo 17.
Earth is almost completely blocking Sun.

yes, it is said it's an illustration showing how the sonar eclipse would look from the side of the moon... but it's taken with Apollo instead. Photo is real. Thanks for the photos , guys, they are very beautiful.
