topic 6

player 1 (attacker):tears through the battlefield with a battle axe
A- you cleave your oponent in 2 clean halves, your savage face roaring in bloodlust

player 2 (defender) :you have a realisation
A - your aura changes , you realise the way of the world, you are enlightened on the battlefield and no harm can possibly befall you.
B - you decide to fight fire with fire, your eyes tighten, your skin becomes like stone, you rush at your oponent like the wind.

Times can change if necessary but I figure why wait. :) Let me know... and if you need a character ref, I'm going with the same design I've used in the last two duels.

Begins Sunday the 17th - 8:00 pm US CST
Ends Tuesday the 19th - 8:00 pm US CST

Let the games begin!

Sweet! No problem, the deadline sounds good. I didn't really have a specific character for myself in mind, but if you want me to sketch up one I can :D

I'll thumb for both but I think I'll go with A.

She'll have chainmail... :) I'll objectify warrior women up to a point, but there are some things that are just impractical... like nekkid tummies on a battlefield...

Soooo here's my final. :) It's not near the level of finish I'd like and your wip already kicks its ass. While I'm not really happy with the outcome it was still pretty fun to experiment with the lighting.

And considering the discussion already going on, I defend myself in two ways: 1. I figure since she can't get hurt she doesn't need the armor anymore, and 2. I wanted to show the light shining from inside her ribcage, which meant you had to see it. Neat idea, yes - successful execution, no, but I'll defend it all the same

Are you going to break my hands chaos? :S

Show me what you got Corrick!

-whistles- Hot damn, that's some fine paintin' right there. :) She's so pretty, it's almost a shame to do this...

Seriously, that is some beautiful work. You've knocked me out cold on color treatment, and the face is gorgeous. Go ahead, make me feel all crappy by saying it's not from a ref.

It's a-time for the judgment!

Sweet pieces, both of you. Love the dynamic pose of corrick's, and sentinel13 - your lighting and colors are simply breath-taking.

HAH! The irony! Looks like she needed that armor after all, hmm? XD

I have to say, I think you've got this one in the bag. Great composition, bg, lighting. This one is by far my favorite you've done, and I really liked your last one. It's a shame too, because I like my head...

And thank you both! Corrick - it's not from ref, but I did spend the better part of a day noodling on it, which is probably why I wasn't able to finish the whole thing  I've gotta learn how to draw faster one of these days.

Judges, commence judging!

Very nice work both of you ! just little critics for you two :)
First corrick As usual nice composition, nice colors, but ! For the 3 of your duels there's something that I don't like : it's the faces of your chars, really I see the technique you have, and I'm disapointed by your faces :S Hope you'll try to work more on the next one. (BTW I hope you're taking care of my head :P) hehe...
For sentinel, it's little bit the opposite I think the face and the expression are great but her chest doesn't look 3d it's maybe too flat and it doesn't fit with the rest. And you could have worked more on the colors maybe :S
But whatever you both did very good job ! :)

Thanks for the crits Markus :) Getting my colors to mesh is something I've been trying to get right. I have a tendency to over-saturate everything :S

2 sentinel by a tiny margin
1 corrick

sentinel -- the coloras are stunning, but you skipped out on th elower half of the body, and theres something odd about the way the head sits on the neck

Corrik - great composition and dynamics, the face you've heard about already. theres also something odd about the crotch and the connection between the legs....
