[ As described. ]

[ Doughy! - :asspat: - Exotic! ]

.
.
.

In response to the queries about this topic header (that i've trimmed to keep the thread lean)...

To CLARIFY:

Robot - Like... a robot. You know, a robot.
Exotic Materials - Strange, uncommon materials.
Doughy - As in cookie dough. Like dough. Dough-like.
Portions - Parts of. Some of.

If you're really that lost when it comes to a particular topic, please just do your best to interpret it. If that means you have to use a search engine to find the definition of a word or words, then do that. If it helps, then you might wait and see what other people are doing and extrapolate from it. If it means you have to just guess at the meaning, then do that.

;) Thx!

My Strider Robot

No time to paint (not that I'm any good with digital painting anyways)

Flour is the sticky goo you use to make cake, it's doesn't necessarily have to be organic.

manic magpie- that's hilarious! thank you
waffle-copter- hah, cute. ;)

I was trying to avoid the Terminator 2 style shapeshifting stuff but went with it anyway.

I went with an extremely un-fashionable and grosstastic intelligent man-purse. The idea is that you'll never have to rummage around looking for something again, because the bag will sort and find everything for you.

The dough on this little guy allows him to flexibly move around your home and stretch his arms to high shelves for all your household needs.

Heres my attempt , its meant to be human muscels attached at the bottom of the robotic head , and the doughy material (right in jar) is some sort of fuel or something along those lines.

Revenebo : Amazing picture i reallly like it specially the meshy insect like eye effect you got going on :)

mercury_sun thank you!
The meshy thing should be something like a mouth/respirator/grate to close an internal engine/burning fire/power plant... And those bulging bright ovals should be the eyes. BUT... now that you point it out it's much more aggressive if I imagine the mouth as eyes and the eyes as... I don't know... maybe antennas/receptors/whatever.
This is conceptless art.

I agree with Mercury_Sun, very cool robot (with doughy parts) Revenebo. How'd you do the joints if you don't mind me asking?

revenebo
February 15th, 2008, 10:42 AM
With an exotic, dough-like material of course.

But perhaps you were asking how I painted them... In Painter I created a paper with a sponge texture and then using Variable Chalk I just painted the highlights... Quite simple actually.
I'm happy you like it.

This is the first thing I've submitted to the DSG; a sticky copper drone thingy.

Looking forward to lots more practice. :)

Again with the half ways there i spend too long messing around.
Might change the colour of the dough i wanted it skin looking but more blobby not like flesh.

EBrown i love the elastic feel you got to the dough skin.

Hamsta. Nice gun turret on dough it is a bit hard to make out quite small.

Waffle-copter. Nice ass thats just plain wrong.

manic magpie. Your sorry? you should be. got me laughing.

silentbrain. Nice idea very subtle. Had to look twice to see bag thingy.

Zaelzar. Nice Finish it off with a bit of colour.

Cookiedemon. good drawing nice colours.

revenebo. Very nice strong piece. I like the dough bits.

mercury_sun. i get your idea maybe flesh it out a bit more.

Here we go, final robot with color. I'm calling it the Loper Mark I

Thanks Mitze and awesome pillsbury bot. Looks like something out of the Doom 3 sketchbooks (just less fangs).

The Doughbot

edit:
Wacky Wackowski Almost great, the far arm is too small imo, you could redraw in a pose which shows
the maliable nature of the form. ie grabing a chunk of it's stomach.

mitze- thanks, I appreciate it, making renders clear is one of my weak points. (also, my monitor calibration got trashed, and that didn't help heh) Anyway I adjusted it a bit to make the bag clearer.
Cool rendering btw! Your style looks very unified.

revelations- damn, that looks delicious! Not sure if I could resist that trap...

revenebo- cool dough golem! Digging the overall design

silentbrain love it, god like design mate. those rake brushes and the tiny highlight on the shoe
exude confidence.

muleskinner you always use the same colors, I wonder why? the pose is very bold.

manic magpie its funny and that is good. You could work on getting that rough slapped down
paint look more like with fake brush like mistakes and paper rips etc.

this robot is made for quarding a room. it needs no legs for it can reach anything in the room with its stretchable arms that are soft yet strong. very few intruders have ever escaped from its grasp...

Mitze I think you're right about the color, I am seeing it as flesh, and not what I would expect from dough.
I don't think my eye is drawn to any particular feature, but floats around.
Your robot could use a harder ground shadow, matching the shadow on it's form, and keeping it from "floating".
